I usually have about a half-minute window of opportunity on this site, so raced to enter my clue @19, and I've been shut out again for a couple of hours. What I meant to write was:

Frying pan with fork and knife; we 'ad a fret (7)

Disturbing dream one had; lost love to snake (7)

Esme and Eric hold snake (7)

Esme and Eric wander inside (7)

Stingy redback spider? No, snake! (7)

Stingy = mean (but sting could be a distraction).
Redback = der
Snake = definition
