Yes it fits but cant make sense of it !

RTE's clues are sometimes not quite correct :)
Maybe darned (awful ) is meant to mean anagram of "darned" but it is not correct to become "neared" but I cannot see any other answer to fit.

No jazzgirl ,answer makes no sense to me , maybe it is just me ,but i founf crossword very difficult this week .

Yes Sammie I agree it was more difficult than usual & a lot of clues are vague which is a real pain Didnt enjoy it much !

No me neither ,have it finished now ,but unsure of some of my answers,went with neared for 11 a ,even though it makes little sense to me .

Neared = closed the gap , as in a race?
