Apologies, Kirky. I am full of hay fever and not thinking properly. Ignore what I wrote for 29 across. The A is correct. The definition is bottle and three of the four letters of cost + 2 from fist are in the answer together with your A.

Don't know if anyone is still looking at this?, but I'm stuck on the last one 11d Toxic plant having difficulty retaining head of staff (8) I have UP?S?R??. Suspect last letters could be RED or GRAM?

Also, the very last part - is the modified title supposed to mean anything? is an anagram to be inserted?
