Many thanks, chiaroscuro.
This construction was arrived at by accident (as so many are). I was tossing around ideas for "time at the bar", "last orders", "extended time" etc, all with a sort of "pub" theme (in honour of ginge) . I just couldn't get the grammar to work so I looked up musical terms and there was "staff" staring right at me!
