I raised an eyebrow, but only by a millimetre.
I seem to remember a puzzle some time ago where the answer was four letter slang for breasts.
It made me titter.

Just to add my own particular winge.
Love this site, but it's getting a bit ad heavy.
I understand and appreciate that this helps to fund it - like ads on ITV.
But with some of the pop-ups (If I have understood the terminology) It can sometimes be very hard to close them. The X button thingy is not always obvious without hovering. And I have only just escaped Asda by reloading - there was no other exit that I could see.
And yes, I know that is the perfect cue for lots of jokes about being trapped in Asda.
But, do you know what I mean?
Or is it just that my laptop is powered by an elastic band and lacks blockingology?

Well, perfectly on cue I am now getting a pharmacy vid that I have closed three times to get back here..
I think the ads loading is seriously affecting my connection time.
I am leaving this forum.
Thank you to all you lovely people. I think I have enjoyed the discussions as much as the puzzles.
And of course, the help.

It's a pity that nelson feels the need to leave, but can I suggest Adblock Plus.

By the way, if anyone is still here!, what is the wordplay in 39A? I'm fairly sure I know what the Jewish state is!

I've no longer got the paper for the wording of the clue - but check out/Google Israel Hands!

Hi tomsdad, "the Jewish state" as Christian name, Hands as Surname was 2nd in command to Blackbeard.
I do hope nelson has seen your suggestion and remains.

Done the grid, found the first caller (at least, I assume it's the first, in row 3); but stuck for the relay team. Am I right in thinking that, as in a relay team, there are 4 callers? No sign of Boyle or Charles or Gay-Lussac though.

The second caller is next to the first caller (and so it goes on)- it really is likes a relay team!
