For the video, bump up the resolution to 480p.

Neato torpedo. A bit of a workout. Don't feel inadequate, ixie. I was slow to get the V clue and that's what we always called it. I still don't have the tart sweet but everything else is finished. There was a candy that was popular when I was a kid that fits the definition but the first four letters don't make sense in the scuttlebutt entry. Off to bed, where it will perhaps occur to me. Thanks, syzzie.

Phew! I didn't think I'd persevere with this, but it kept niggling away.
I'm very familiar with "V" from when we finally got TV in AU in 1956, but I didn't guess it until I saw the box.
"Tart sweet" last also, only from putting the last half of the word into Crosswordsolver here.

Spellcheck tells me that "crosswordsolver" isn't a word....

Thanks, Syzygy

You're all welcome. Hope you enjoyed it, as did I.
Quite a bit trickier than many of the cryptics.

@Aristo - for 6a think of "supplier" as a synonym in a journalistic sense.
That will solve the 2 box. Took me a while to get it.

Box 4 (politician) was also a problem, as I am not familiar with those.

@Mattrom

No TV in NZ when we left in 1957 for Canada.
There, 4-5 ! channels, depending on weather, probably.
I was glued to the box for weeks.

As soon as I hit the sack I thought of it. I don't care for non-cryptics, but this one was a blast. Your mind must have to be awfully twisted to be able to organize like this. Thanks again, syzzie.
