Good morning, Rusty!
Dreich here today! Warm though.
Still no winds as yet....but the woodcutters are hastily lopping down dodgy trees in the park this morning.......so maybe they know something I don't?
I finished the chapter on "Sheep" last night, next one is entitled "The Crime" ???? I shall find out soon......
Not good news about the puppy, I am afraid.
There does seem to be an underlying serious problem...the vet is now referring pup to a specialist.
It seems that the puppy's eyesight is now affected. The pressure in his eyes is too low, the retinas look "marbled", and his pupils are permanently dilated, and unable to contract. He appears to be losing his vision.
The possibilities, according to the vet, are that a toxin is causing these multiple symptoms...or that it is a condition he was born with....but he is about six months old now, and surely that would have manifested itself before now?
Anyway, our daughter has to take pup to see a specialist somewhere in Hertfordshire this morning.
She will keep me updated.
Other daughter shortly about to arrive......!
How are your winds?
Is the Bridge still closed?

Hi, everyone!
Re post 10,000.......it would be very nice if it were from Norah - especially as she instigated the PCT - and she does such a lot for us all on the Forum!
She checks the site out regularly...I'll put up a message specifically for her!

Hello Elle,

Unfortunately some genetic disease are not always discovered at birth - same as humans really, how many children are not properly diagnosed until first symptoms appear as the child develop - sometime not before they are between 2 and 4 years old?
I sure hope the specialist can do something. If it is toxin based, then could it be something like Septicemia?

Hi rusty

How funny!
I had a shared note on my facebook home page today about National Gorgeous Grandma Day, obviously been doing the rounds
Going to muss my hair!
Granddaughter currently making a chameleon
She's 3!
I imagine your grandmother might be a little surprised to see you rusty!!!
The puppy sounds very ill, elle. Some genetic diseases don't show until middle age. And muscular dystrophy until the child is- what? 18 months. 2? Sounds like a very nasty toxin. Let's hope he is OK.

Good morning, Elle!
It is a lovely blustery day here.
Bridge still closed to double decked buses.
I was speaking to two of the ASDA girls who live across the water and they had no problem crossing today.
They told me that if/when the bridge is closed to them, ASDA has asked them to go to the store in Glenrothes for the day, so they will still be paid. Good old ASDA!
That is a shame about the puppy.
Are marbled retinas signs of cataracts?
Let us hope the Herts vet can help.
"The Crime"?
I remember that.
I don't think the characters involved may be in the tale yet.
They appear after the return of Canby.
So, fingers crossed for the pup!

Hello, Rosalind!
I am afraid I only have very vague memories of my grandparents. They all passed when I was very young.
Anyway, we can't have too many Gorgeous Grandma days!
Hope you have a great day with your granddaughter!

Update, Elle.
Before the "Crime" you shall meet Sheriff Axel Dumire.
He is a fairly large character in the tale.
You will like him, I think!

Elle, whilst reporting the spammers, I also asked Norah to make sure to read your post to her - just in case she misses it.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am sorry for the long gap in my replying.
Younger daughter and Baby have only just left to pick up BB from school.
It will take them about an hour to get there.
Baby is now "walking" around the edges of the furniture.
He is only six months old, but loves being up on his feet!
He is gorgeous!!
Elder daughter couldn't arrange for pup to see the specialist today but has an appointment at 9.30 am tomorrow.
Yes, fingers crossed that some help might be given.
I haven't started "The Crime" chapter ...... I can't wait to see what Canby is up to.......and no, I haven't met the Sheriff yet!
Did I tell you that three of my five books have arrived?
Two by Peter May - and one by Sebastian Faulks.
Apparently, according to Google, there is a Grandparents' Day on 2nd October in the UK!
