A long time ago I was drinking sherry (!!! really. Does anyone do that now?) at a Congress in a group next to Crick's coterie. Someone near me whispered "Best not to discuss any ideas just now, you don't want them overheard". (I did have one but I never followed it up. Years later it turned out to be about right).

Re the new car...yes , it is running nicely, although my husband is finding all the gizmos and gadgets somewhat confusing! (there are an incredible number of them!) But the salesman did say that every buyer finds that - he recommends each new owner comes back to the showroom after two weeks for a 'refresher course' (yes, really!) and then decides which features have proved useful and which ones are required to be 'switched off'!
I've never come across this before - but then we've never had such an up-to-date car before (this is only a year old) - we usually have much older cars!
Very pleased with it tho' - the novelty of an opening boot is fantastic!
I look forward to hearing more about Henrietta by proxy, when you read the book!

I grew up living across the river from Trent Bridge Cricket ground and was taken by my father to matches so I caught the bug early,but it has changed a lot recently,I also like rowing again because we lived near the river my husband played rugby a game I never understood

Please tell me, in what way has cricket changed? has it got, like with many other sports, anything to do with professionalism in the sport? Surely players are not 'sold' or 'transfered' from one club to another?

OK I don't understand it, but it does not mean I want to know nothing about it; my husband loved the game and we always listened to TMS on radio.
To me, it is part of the British culture - after all, you do say 'that's bnot cricket' when you want to say something is not correct by British standards, no?
