Whew! I am exhausted!
The boys are in bed and hopefully will be asleep soon.
They have been allowed to read in bed for half an hour before putting out the light.
The cycling has just started on the television, I hope all goes to plan and your expectations.
I shall be attempting to play catch up with the athletics on the computer.

I read about Lassie having set off on her flight. Two chicks in the nest at the moment.
They will need to up their game and learn to fish a bit more proficiently, if they are to survive their journey out into the world on their own.
They are dragging their heels a bit, aren't they?
( if one can say that about a bird!)

It's almost a shame to think we are not going to see Lassie for 9 months or so, but that is her life!
The chicks have been spoiled and are a bit lazy !

Just finished the cycling!
Trotty was absolutely superb!
I think she can only lose the gold now.
I liked seeing Anna Meares, too.
She spotted Victoria P in the crowd and the two of them were hugging and had the tissues out. Very, very, emotional.
Was the highlight of the evening for me.
Chris Hoy said it was wonderful to see, after they had been fighting for years!
I hope they end up good friends. I really do.
Cav won a silver medal.
Viviani was a worthy winner.
I am up late tonight!

Lassie will be back, Pigale, we shall just have to be patient!
It is a steep learning curve for the chicks.
The sooner they become good fishers the better.
There has been a sea eagle hatched not too far from me, but the nest site is secret.
Sea eagles are very rare and are being encouraged to breed here.
Fingers crossed for them.

We have yet another lovely day here.
I am late back from the park this morning! it was too nice to come home!
The cyclists are doing very well - they should be proud that they are adding so much to our medals total.
I remember your telling me that Anna and Victoria were fierce rivals at one stage, with not much love lost between them.
Yes, it would be nice to see them becoming friends now.
I found that business in the Women's 400m of Shaunee Miller "diving" over the finishing line to take Gold from Allyson Felix - who was "leaning forward" over the line as the athletes usually do - rather peculiar?
Shaunee was awarded the Gold , but it seemed odd to me.
I think there should be a rule that a competitor must remain upright on his/ her feet!
Throwing oneself over the line in a "rugby tackle" position shouldn't count!
We have to stay home today now, until the cooker repair has been between 1 and 2 pm.

I'm sorry I didn't reply yesterday - it was late by the time I saw your post.
How did you enjoy the fireworks display? I expect it was spectacular?

That sounds rather like the Boot Fairs that we have here.
They are always well attended - I don't think people can resist looking for a potential bargain!

There should be rules governing "crossing the line" I would think?
It was said on Olympic Breakfast show that Colin Jackson used to bend so low that he did not break the beam at the finish line. I think Allyson Felix was hard done by.
Anna and Vic were a lot more than fierce rivals.
They were two great champions who detested each other, and it showed on the track.
Was the complete opposite last night.
Tears, tissues, hugs, and speaking from the heart.
I never thought that Anna could be like that.
It made my night, as did Trotty's excellence!

I have just been reading about the Egyptian, Islam El Shehaby, who refused to shake the hand of his Israeli opponent., after their judo bout.
The Egyptian judoka was quite rightly reprimanded by the IOC, who accused him of undermining the "rules of fair play" and "spirit of friendship".
The Egyptian Olympic Committee also strongly condemned the action of their contestant and sent him home.
The President of the NOC has issued a statement saying that they respected all athletes and all nations at the Olympic Games.
It is good to see that the "authorities" CAN come up to scratch on occasions! (and are not always spineless!)
Good for them!
Now.......I have two small boys who tell me that they are "starving" -
despite a good breakfast and being sustained with fruit on and off all the morning!
I must away to feed them.......
