Agreed, Malone.
I suspect Mr Rogan and his merrie men are at the capers!

Hi, Rusty!
Mr. R's obsession with London, Cockneys in particular, and homophones is getting a little wearisome, is it not?
And to repeat "Mission Creep " again today as an answer (Malone's clue).......which , incidentally I failed to get this time around......I toyed with "mission" as part of the answer, but couldn't parse it, and gave up "not so" gracefully!
I have a friend who lived in West Acton for many years and so we used to visit her and her husband there.
As far as I can recall, Acton is a part of the Borough of Ealing; there is also an individual place called Ealing.
Very like Bromley, and Bromley Borough.
There was another Cockney clue on a different thread earlier this morning, did you see it?
Assist cockney catching oriental fish (7)
I haven't seen "The Voice" yet! usually I watch it there and then as it is being shown, but a friend phoned, and as I missed a large chunk, I decided to leave all of it for viewing later.
I have set the recorder already for Victoria's race next Friday! lest I forget!

Terrible or what?

Trevor brought this up, yesterday, Chris!
You obviously missed it - see post 6533, and the ensuing discussion!

Hello, Elle!
Victoria's race starts at 16.10 next Friday.
Though there will be a bit of a build up to it, I imagine!
There are over 30 entries at the moment, but there will be a limit of 24 runners for safety reasons.
Nina Carberry is aboard the favourite, On The Fringe, who won last year.
The Acton answer required "local" knowledge.
Just wondering if most Londoners would know that Acton was in Ealing?
In "10 Rillington Place", the murderer told police the baby had been taken to a young couple "over Acton way".
That is the sum total of my knowledge of Acton!
I do not know the answer to your other clue, Elle.

Good morning, Rusty!
We have yet another lovely day - albeit very much colder than yesterday........the temperature is back down again........5C!
How is it in your neck of the woods?
I have a question about Victoria's race......what happens when there are entries over and above the set number allowed for the race? You say there are 30 , and only 24 allowed? I can see the sense of allowing surplus entries initially, as there may be some non-runners on the day?
But supposing all horses are fit to race.......what happens then ? How are the numbers of runners then restricted?
That clue......
Assist cockney catching oriental fish (7)
The answer is eelpout......... E 'elp out
Yes, awful, I know!
Are you up to anything nice today?

Good day to you, Elle!
Great day here, too!
The Foxhunters?
If there are too many runners, there will be some balloted out.
Although the Foxhunters is not a handicap, the decision is made on each horses official handicap rating.
The lowest officially handicapped horses will come out.
I had it in my head that there was a fish called "eelpike"!
Eelpout is a good clue for the Cockneys!
I understand that one!
I watched 20 minutes of The Voice.
Not for me, Elle!
It seems to be very popular though.
Having a quiet day at home today.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you have a lovely day, too!
So is this handicap rating entirely dependent on the horse's capability rather than the experience of the jockey? (Have I understood that correctly?)
Which would surely mean that Victoria's place in the Foxhunters' Race is safe enough?
I didn't really expect you to like "The Voice" - although I should have preferred your judgement of it to be based on the programme as seen initially - I think to look in at this stage give a wrong perspective?
But I enjoy it!!! ( and think how boring it would be if everyone liked the same things!)
Well, I must away and get ready.... we are shortly going out.... the sun is still shining!
Catch up later.....

Hello, Elle!
Yes, it is the horse's handicap.
But the Foxhunters is not a handicap.
Yes, Pacha has a good handicap mark so will get in, if there is a ballot.
Vic will not be be the only rider with limited experience, but the top amateurs will be there too.
The Foxhunters is the unofficial "amateurs Gold Cup" and will be fiercely competitive. Three and a quarter miles, 22 tough fences, up hill and down dale. An excellent test!
The Voice is OK, not my thing though.
Oh for a Bing!

Hi, Rusty!
What a beautiful afternoon it has been! I don't think the weather forecast was correct - it is now feeling very much warmer than 5C! but then the sun today is very strong.
Lovely out!
There will never be another Bing, Rusty!!
Bing is insurpassable!
I will stake my (non -existent) fortune on there never being another singer of his calibre.
Michael Holliday (aka Norman Alexander Milne) had a good shot at it, but fell by the wayside....... I enjoyed his "The Story of My Life", but he was never ever "another " Bing!
I shall now sit and relax and watch "The Voice"!
There are one or two singers there that I should like to see go through to the next round.
