Rusty, better not do what my Husband used to do: whenever we ordered something in kit form, he would throw himself into building it on his own without looking at the instructions - though successful sometimes, he often had to undo everything and start all over again having read the instructions - and in any case there was always a screw or a bolt left unused!

I have put similar things together before.
And I have two sons who are tradesmen and well used to screwdrivers and Allen keys, so should be OK!
I would have preferred a prebuilt one, but there are not nearly so many, and most were taller than I wanted.
So, I went down the do-it-yourself road.
Hopefully it will be straightforward!

I think that is a "man" thing!
For some reason, they don't look at instructions - they appear to think it an unmanly pursuit!
My son -in law tells me instructions are unnecessary and it is all "intuitive"!
(I do so agree about the leftover nut or bolt!)
I'm in sympathy with you over the weather - it's pouring down here and oh so windy - "things" are blowing about !

Regarding your 'old' wardrobe.... have you thought of offering it to one of these charities that are helping to rehouse refugees?
I would have thought that they would appreciate offers of furniture?

You know how I have had to have my tumbler dryer "modified" because the design was found to be faulty and a subsequent fire risk?
Well....... after a considerably lengthy wait, this was recently done.... but now I have had a letter today from Hotpoint Customer Services telling me that my initial twelve months guarantee has run out, and suggesting that I extend the warranty by paying them more money!!!!
What a colossal nerve! How could they have the effrontery to ask that , having provided a faulty machine in the first instance?
I have written back forthwith, requesting a year's replacement FREE guarantee from the present date!
Sparks are flying..........(although fortunately not from the amended machine!)

a few years ago my daughter and i assembled our current barbecue. we were very pleased with ourselves. a few weeks later i read a review of some barbecues. ours was rated "not very good" but "very easy to assemble"!

But does it work, Chris, that's the main thing?

in fact, as assembled the grill area was far too high above the coals. solved by balancing the coals containers on firebricks. trouble is, it's now very heavy!

No extended guarantees are worth it anyway. Currys will try and sell you one, rusty. I had to get really cross with them before they shut up about it. I also absolutely refuse to give them my name and address, or they pester you forever. It is not a legal requirement, whatever they say.

Have waited in 2 hours for the gasman. I really, really want to go on my walk as haven't been for one since Thursday. What to do?

A friend and I put together a small kitchen from self-build packs. 19 separate boxes! Not a single one had all the bits needed (one had three feet not four. None had five). Wickes wouldn't answer the phone to me after a while, but did eventually send champagne!

You folk are not very encouraging and me waiting on my make it up as you go along wardrobe!

Does the BBQ remain in situ -or do you put it away between uses?
If it remains in the one place, it won't matter that it is heavy? - and at least it won't get blown away!
