Adblock plus: well, I installed it, and had a couple of ad-free days, especially here, where I was even getting an ad sitting across this box, hiding what I was typing. (Fumes quietly.) But I then found some websites kept waiting, waiting, waiting. So, with much regret, I de-installed it. Result: websites working OK, but the ads are, of course, back. (Sobs quietly.) But thanks for the info; it was worth a try.

Hello, Elle!
Boris seems to look after the "goldie oldies" alright.
Overground? DLR?
I think if I lived in or near London, I would like a trip on a river boat up or down the river. Especially a free one.
Mr Rogan would be very pleased with me!
Speaking of trips.
Did you see the skier on the News who fell over a thousand feet down a mountain? She escaped practically unscathed.
How she is still alive I do not know.
It was in my paper today that our lifeboat had the most shouts of any lifeboat in Britain last year.
Great to know they are there for us.

SteveA,
There are other blockers to try.
I use Ublock and it works well.
Adblock have their own browser too (but it is a bit slow)
If you use Firefox they have Adblock and/or Ublock installed as add ons.
Could be worth trying?

Hi, Rusty!
The London Mayoral election will be in May - I wonder if Boris will be elected for another term?
The DLR is the Docklands Light Railway - "driverless" trains which run on automation.
There is a "train attendant" on the train, who has the overall responsibility for the opening and closing of doors, but he moves freely about the train - he doesn't sit in the cab.
It is a useful link - altho' 'it doesn't come anywhere near here.
I am reporting for duty tomorrow for "Ladies who Lunch"!
It seems an age since I last went (although probably I have only missed two?)
How much progress did the painter make today? What is on tomorrow's agenda?

Hello, Elle,
I was having a wee chuckle earlier about the red doors for immigrants! I have a bright red door and I am an immigrant!
Solidarity!
The painter was here for about 5 hours.
He painted my front door again. RED! Hung paper on ceiling and walls, and painted ceiling and skirting and door.
So, first rate progress.
I did not know about your driverless trains.
Hope the ladies who lunch outing goes well!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I'd read that article about immigrants being harassed - apparently they were identified by the fact that they had been housed in council property, where most of them had a red front door!
As Chris said, the local Council was quickly organising for the doors to be repainted a different colour. but horses and stable doors come to mind........
The article was in a free London paper called The Metro, several days ago.
It all took place in Middlesborough ( not that I know where that is?)
It has finally stopped raining here, and tomorrow is supposedly going to be a dry and sunny day, but with temperatures dropping down to about 4C.
I just wish it would maintain an even temperature, be it hot or cold!

Hello everyone,

Good morning Rusty,

How are things today? Is your painter coming at all or does he need to leave a few days for things to dry ?

Nothing much planned for me here - (not going to lunch....). Weather a bit miserable, wet without a lot of rain, and still mild - might get cooler tomorrow.

Good day, Pigale!
All going well with the painter.
He spends around 3 hours at a a time here, then goes off to other jobs until things dry. He is well organised!
He finishes tomorrow.
A fine lad, been a pleasure having him here.
It is cloudy but dry here, though we have Met Office alerts for rain, snow and ice.

Good day, Elle!
I have been to Middlesbrough, at a funeral.
They have a nice crematorium, as I recall.
And after went to Blue Bell pub/hotel.
A long drive down and back!
Hope you and the Ladies enjoyed lunch, and your trip on the tram.
Dry here, but I think we have "weather" coming!
