Ah yes, Pigale. I really like Rupert Brooke's poem on the subject (Menelaus and Helen)-

He had not remembered that she was so fair
Or that her neck curved down in such a way

However, you cannot make Elle out of headless Helen, no matter how hard you try!

Earlier threads discussed the Little Drummer Boy - a song I've never liked. Imagine my horror when tonight's University Challenge featured that as a question - four versions of it! I liked none of those too - Andy Williams, Marlene Dietrich (painful to listen to, I felt), Johnny Cash and Destiny's Child. I hope all your Rum Pum Pum Pum fans saw it and enjoyed it!

No, missed that, Malone!
I have heard Johnny Cash and he was ordinary at it.
For me it's Boney M, then Bing!

I didn't see it either, Malone.
For me, Bing first every time! his solo version though ( not the one where he sings with David Bowie).
And if I must go with a second choice......maybe Joan Baez.

Hi rusty
Did you watch tonight's University Challenge? The music round would have been right up your street - identifying performers of "Little drummer boy"!

(P.S. Bing and Bowie didn't feature.)

Hi, Chris!
That's just what Malone has been talking about!
I wish I'd watched it, but I have been reading (Jeffrey Archer) and haven't had the television on all evening.

Btw, I have a recording of Bing singing it SOLO - no David Bowie in sight/ hearing!!

The first version sung on the programme tonight was by Andy Williams - the contestant buzzed in to say it was David Bowie. I know very little on the subject, but I would have said those two singers were light years apart!

Bing is not as good as Boney M, Elle!

Hi, Rusty!
Now that is sacrilege in my book!
I do like Boney M very much , but in this instance, my preference is for a single voice singing "The Little Drummer Boy" - and, for me, that voice has to be Bing's!

I bought a little elephant stuffed (squeaky) soft toy for the dog, at the pet shop this afternoon. She will love it!
The cat is having a present too - balls to play with; although he likes to take the baubles off the tree and bat those around!

Pa rum pum pum pum!
