About 150 miles! No choice as we had to vacate the holiday property that morning. It was ok though, as at least we warm(ish) and dry - if deafened!
No we didn't buy the Renault new ( we've always had used cars) It's a 2004 reg.
Sorry....must rush as have to go out now... have a good day!

Hello, Pigale!
It is very warm here!
I agree with you about Raymond Poulidor the "eternal second"!
Everyone loved him. Anquetil was a better rider but the French people loved Poulidor, and tolerated Anquetil.
I have read Anquetil's biography " Sex, Lies, and Handlebar Tape". It is very good, especially describing his ferocious will to win.
Yes, Tom Simpson died on the ascent of Mont Ventoux.
Amphetamines and alcohol were found at his autopsy.
They, and heat exhaustion, caused his death.

Hello, Elle!
Is this you dashing off to meet the "ladies who lunch"?
Fine day for it. 23° here yesterday.
When shall you collect your new car?
Type " tennis player panic room" into Google and you will come across what I think is a very suspicious tale.
No bacon roll for me today. Miss B&Q can't make it!
Stood up my granddaughter! Dearie me!

Hi Rusty,
How right you are about 'Pou-Pou' being 1st in the heart of almost everyone.

~Another thing that has to be remembered when rating the harshness of a mountain day is the change of altitude - This combined with hot and sometimes humid conditions make the whole even more demanding on the body.

Glad you are having your share of nice warm weather.
Here it is ridiculously hot for this time of the year - I have just closed the windows to stop the heat coming into the house! Rather a shame but this is the price to pay to remain comfortable.

Hey, Rusty!
Yes, I've just got back from "lunching"! We went for a Chinese meal today - delicious!
We've got lovely weather here too - extremely warm, no need for coats or cardigans.
What a pity Miss B&Q, aka Miss ATW, couldn't make it today! Are you having withdrawal symptoms from lack of your bacon roll?( Maybe have two tomorrow to make up, when you meet Miss L-Plate?)
I've googled as you suggested - very suspicious story indeed! I must say I don't much like the person in question. Did you hear about her swearing on court during the French Open final? she got a reprimand, but the commentators were saying that with a stronger umpire they thought she would have been penalised?

Hello, Elle!
I think I am meeting the two of them tomorrow!
Very warm here!
Glad you enjoyed lunch.
No, did not know about the cursing. Not surprised, though!
I like Miss Sharapova, who detests her!
So I side with Maria!

Hi, Rusty!
So where will the three of you go tomorrow? To the Pine Cone - or elsewhere?
I'm sorry, I omitted to answer your question about picking up the new car. What we have done so far is put down a holding deposit (fully returnable should we change our minds).
This is because it wasn't possible for my husband to test drive the car yesterday ( it was well boxed in) so we are returning tomorrow to take it for a drive (couldn't do it today as I was out!).
I don't anticipate any problems ( after all it is only a year old) so hopefully we shall finalise things tomorrow. Maybe bring it home tomorrow or early next week?

Hello, Pigale,
Yes, I agree about the harshness of a mountain.
The day Tom Simpson died, the heat on the Ventoux was awful. The white lunar-like rocks on the mountain reflecting the heat onto the bodies of the riders.
It has been very warm here today.
Oh, for an ice-cream!
