Hello, Elle and Pigale!
The wind is rising here.
Flood gates are closed at Perth.
The river is rising.
I think the worst of the weather is to the South of us.
Poor old man. I did not realise the weather was as bad in London area.
We still have restrictions on Tay Bridge and only ambulances and police emergency vehicles are allowed on Forth Bridge.
Yes, my crossword is complete.
I just had some tapioca. Not had that for many years!

Hi Elle
The funniest part I have heard of in a Christmas play was a blade of grass! I enjoyed making the lamb costume for my younger son, though he doesn't like the photo. This year my grandson is a narrator, costume not yet defined.
I love making dressing up clothes - cows, donkeys, a lamb, a sea anemone, a mussel, Aladdin, etc.

Elle and Pigale, I'm very good at complaining - but in this case I felt I was just having a little moan, grumble with like-minded people!

As a Scot, I find your school selection process ... a real palaver! It seems to be unnecessarily complicated. Here, about 95% of children simply go to their local/nearest school.

It probably started as a little moan Malone, but when Elle/Rusty started to talk of writing to the Crosswords editor, I began to think 'well, why not?' ; I'm afraid that when I have a bee in my bonnet, I need to express what I think.

Well, after all, it costs us nothing and if it can change things a little, all the better ! though quite frankly I doubt that two little letters will weigh much in the balance.

Pigale,
I think I may make it three little letters.
And for all we know there could be more.
I have seen quite a few crossword related queries/grumps in the feedback column before.
My impression is that they like getting them.

I'm sorry to be so late in replying to everyone...I fell asleep!

Ros, the grandson who is to be a star is also a narrator- he feels very honoured as he was chosen to do this because of his reading ability! He is five and a bit!
He has quite a lot to "read out", rather than learn by heart!

Malone, I think there would be an uproar if children here were sent to their nearest school! we'd have a revolt from the parents on our hands for sure! Maybe the educational standard in your locality is more equal? the problem here is that school standards very so much !

Pigale, I have these bursts of "militancy"! I think I should have enjoyed being a troubleshooter" - solving problems and trying to right matters is good!

That is good Rusty !

Now, even the 'militants' need their beauty sleep, so night night everyone.

Hi Rusty!
Oh dear, the trouble with having slept for so long - book fallen on the floor before me! - is that I shall now be up for ages!
I'll probably even make a start on doing the Everyman crossword, as it comes online at midnight!! I always print it off!
Does "I think I might make it three little letters....." mean that you are going to write in with your "twopennorth" after all?
I think you should as you were basically the instigator of these acts of rebellion!
I've just found a Newsflash in my Inbox- apparently there has been a stabbing on a Tube at Leytonstone in East London
Several people have been hurt!
This is being as a terrorist attack.....

Sorry, typo...just realised I missed out a word...
It should have read "being treated as a terrorist attack"

Hello, Elle!
There is a lot of these attacks lately.
Worrying.
I will send an email to Rose tomorrow suggesting Mr Rogan buys his setters an Atlas of the World, and it would please me greatly if there was a clue referring to Crianlarich or Inchnadamph as a wee change from London! Good idea?
Everyman is a good crossword, not so difficult as some.
I have not done it for a few years.
