Hello, Elle!
Hello, Elle!
I think your daffs will be OK.
Miss La Bamba "hopes" to get a car!
Fingers crossed for her.
Did you find out what the problem with the police tapes etc was this morning?
It has got a little bit warmer here.

Hi, Rusty!
Miss La Bamba will be a very lucky girl indeed if she does get a car!
No, no news on the police cordon. And we didn't go out this afternoon, so no 'gossip'!
I may find out tomorrow morning from one of the dog walkers. I'm sure someone will have had his /her ear to the ground. I'll let you know if I do!
I've been watching Bing Crosby in "White Christmas" (yet again!) - I'd recorded it.
I do like Bing - he has a wonderful voice.
I have loads of old 78s of him, that were my Dad's, that I still play from time to time.
Nostalgia!
I'm glad it's getting warmer for you. I hope the ice disappears.

Hello, Elle!
You will have to invest in local radio!
Handy for local news. Croydon Radio?
I looked it up. "Worker's Playtime" is on tomorrow!
Miss La Bamba has been a very good girl and the outlook is favourable. I can say no more!
I agree about Bing. A wonderful rich voice.
I only have CD's now, but none of him.
Most of mine are music with no singing.
I seem to prefer that.
There is certainly less ice outside.
I have not been out, but it is warmer I believe.
That poor lady I met this morning was in a bit of a tizz on the icy pavement. I do not mind snow, but I hate black ice!

Hi, Rusty!
I gave in to my tiredness and fell asleep reading my book.......!
My goodness, "Workers' Playtime" is a blast from the past! All I can remember is Elsie and Doris Waters playing "Gert and Daisy"!
Would it have been in the mid- sixties?
I have just seen in my next week's TV guide that the controversial winner of BGT, Jules O'Dwyer and her dog Matisse ( plus other dogs!) will perform in the Royal Variety Performance!
This time she does mention that there will be other dogs taking part!
I still think it a disgrace that she was allowed to keep the prize money from BGT! She should have been disqualified for 'cheating'!
And the reward for such behaviour is to take part in the Royal Variety Performance?!
Where is the justice in that?
Time for a bedtime drink, then bed......before I go to sleep reading AGAIN!

Hello, Elle!
I think God was a boy when Worker's Playtime was last on.
Radio Croydon does not seem very with-it!
I think I agree about Jules and her dogs.
Not quite right the way she won, but that was no fault of the dogs. They did not know they were cheating!
My favourite in it was young Henry Gallagher.
I have watched him many times on YouTube since!
There were auditions in Glasgow last week for next year's series.
Any more acts from BGT on the Royal show?
And the good news is....no sign of snow or ice outside!

Good morning, Rusty!
That is good about your snow and ice disappearing.
It is fell dreich here, and fairly mild. I would prefer dry and cold to warm and wet! but I shouldn't complain - at least it isn't snowing!
Your talk of "old" radio programmes led me to reminisce.....
I used to enjoy listening to programmes such as "Round The Horne", Beyond Our Ken" and "The Navy Lark. Very clever and funny!
Did you used to listen to those?
And there was a very amusing programme with George Cole - cannot remember his character's name, but he had a dog called "Psyche"?
Do you know the one I mean?
I found "The Likely Lads " much funnier on the radio than on the television.
My husband bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for our Wedding Anniversary! and he is taking me out to dinner tonight !

Good morning, Elle!
Happy Wedding Anniversary!
I hope you have a nice dinner, too!
It is MUCH milder up here today, thank goodness!
I think your radio memory is much better than mine.
I used to like a programme on Radio Luxembourg called the Black Museum. It was all about murders. Very scary when I was a young boy!
Have you found out what the police were up to yesterday?

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for your good wishes! I shall do my very best to enjoy my hopefully delicious meal tonight!
Goodness, I am on a roll now with remembering radio programmes......
I don't know the one you mentioned "The Black Museum"?
But the two that scared me were "Journey into Space" - I was but a nipper, knee high to a grasshopper, and had my mother looking under my bed every night before I would go to sleep!
And John Wyndham's "The Day of the Triffids" .
Gosh, that was frightening! I've read the book and seen a televised version, but nothing was so utterly terrifying as that radio play!
You could hear the triffids coming along......
No, regrettably no -one knows what was going on with the police yesterday- we may have to wait for next week's local paper and see if the incident makes the News.......
What are you up to today? Are you planning a dander as the ground is now ice-free?
