I also heard that the football spectators at Stade de France yesterday (where bombs exploded outside) all spontanuously sung the Marseillaise as they were being evacuated.

Just as well that the normal security checks at the gate of Stade de France are strict enough to have deterred the attackers from entering into the stadium -and thus decided to let the explosion take place outside - otherwise It would have been a carnage !

Just saw a photo of the rock band U2.
Each of them laid flowers at the concert hall which was attacked.
Maybe in Paris for a concert?
Was nice of them anyway.
A very trying time for Paris and France.

Yes Rusty, U2 Band have been in Paris for a few days rehearsing for a couple of concerts due to take place tonight and tomorrow night.
The band decided to cancel these concert in sympathy, but I don't think they would have been allowed to go ahead with them anyway since all big gatherings are cancelled.

All cinemas, theatres, many discotheques (if not all), all museums, sports venues, ice skating rings, all commercial centers and so on are all closed - including the Eiffel Tower - am not sure about other monuments such as Arc de Triumph or La Defense - a real siege state.

Yes, I have just read that in an Irish paper, Pigale.
The concerts would have put too much strain on an already overstretched police force. Wise decision in cancelling.
Bono says they will do the concerts at some future date.

On a lighter note..........now what is this fixation that you have about hatpins?
I imagine a character such as Miss Jane Marple, of St. Mary Mead (she of Agatha Christie fame) perhaps to have had her hat securely skewered to her head by a hatpin?
I think of hatpins as obsolete articles - do people still use them in this day and age? Thinking back, I do not for instance recall my mother ever having a hatpin? but then I don't remember her having a hat?!
But enough frivolity......

It is supposed to be dry and milder tomorrow - so hoping for a decent walk.
Do you have any plans? maybe with the girls?

I shall now take the dog out into the garden for a last run around before bed....

My drift is you will come across your missing book when you are looking for something else, not necessarily your hatpin.
My old auntie kept one in her handbag for defence purposes.
Maybe they have gone out of fashion?
I have heard of Miss Marple. A fine upstanding lady with solid principles. We could be doing with more like Miss Marple in the world!

This is Sunday, the girls won't surface until lunchtime.
I still have not done yesterday's crossword. Best find it and put it aside before I recycle it in the blue bin.

Dry here, with the sun attempting to peep through - but decidedly parky!
I think Winter has arrived! I must root out scarf and gloves for these early morning walks!
We are planning on going to the Country Park later, possibly with our daughter and grandson if they get here in time - they are going swimming this morning so it will all depend on their schedule.
I am happy to have a fairly leisurely day, as next week promises to be another busy one, with vet visit, two more school Open Days, and, of course, "Ladies who Lunch."
I'm thinking, too, that I should be making a start on writing my Christmas cards......no idea as yet what anyone wants for presents......

I got a great pair of gloves a few years ago at one of the outdoor shops.
Made of a special fleece material. They were not cheap and are very warm, so well worth the money.
I am going to watch the racing from Punchestown, later.
Faugheen has his first run of the season.

Hello Rusty, Morning everyone

As you think, most churches are packed with people who don't attend normally on a regular basis - they said so on the Radio on the 12 o'clock news (Paris time);

I am not going down the village today - the fact is that I got up too late to be ready in time to walk down to town/church - I did go to bed much later than usual because of listening to radio.
Nothing is opened in the village on Sunday afternoons anyway.

I have read on one of google sites (can't remember which one but a French one anyway) the 'message' issued by daech and they mention that this is only a 'warning before the storm' - Quite frightening !

I was also watching on Google all the tributes paid us the world over and it is nice to feel that we are not alone. I just hope that those 'animals' don't hit another city elsewhere in Europe.

Weather here is blue sky, sunshine, but a very chilly wind - they had promised us some 15/16C, well this may be true in a secluded area out of the wind, but nowhere else! It feels more like 10C with the wind factor. Still, at least it is sunny - more cheerful.
