Hi, Rusty!
Now, according to the planting instructions attached to the bag of bulbs, they may be planted anytime between August and December - so we still have a time margin in which to do it!
I love daffodils - I especially like yellow flowers as they are so bright and cheerful- so I hope the planting is a success! I will let you know in due course!
I bought winter pansies for planting in Winter? I don't know.... that is what I would put......
So you had two granddaughters visiting ... that was nice! and good to be invited to Miss Orlando's graduation - how lovely - when will that be?

Chris, I think "the Darling Buds of May" WAS set in Kent , although, for the TV series, a little of the filming was certainly done in Yorkshire - or so I read somewhere?

Miss Orlando graduates two weeks today.
I asked her about what to wear, and she does not care.

You have not heard of a Forfar bridie? Jings!
Forfar is our county town and a bridie is, roughly, a meat and onion dish inside pastry. Maybe a relative of a Cornish pasty?
One of my Norn Iron friends is Bridie, and also a Donegal cousin. Short for Bridget/Brigid. See your Chambers.
They have bridie= meat and onion turnover.
Anne Bradford has it under "pasty".

Snow flurries? Goodness gracious! Winter is upon us with a vengeance! We shall plant the bulbs over the weekend, anyway, never fear!

I think you should perhaps take that "Anything" from Miss Orlando with "a pinch" or maybe "a barrel full" of salt?! You should maybe check with your daughter- in -law?
Usually, the Graduation guests do dress reasonably formally - certainly a man would wear a (posh?) suit and smart shirt and sober tie!
I am sure though in Scotland, you could wear a kilt if you so wished (my cousin always wore his for formal occasions)
Remember there will be photographs taken for "posterity" - think of your street cred, as the girls would say!

Did I ever tell you what happened to us? - fortunately it was
AFTER our daughter's Graduation and not before ........
We'd gone up to Manchester in jeans and polo shirts - just casual
wear.
My husband's suit and shirt, and my "dressy" outfit were in the roof box.
My husband forgot to lock it.......... first thing we knew was another driver on the motorway beeping us....... roof box was wide open... "dressy " clothes were long gone.... goodness knows where....could have landed in a field!!!!
It was a good job we were on our way back from the Graduation and NOT on our way there!
We certainly would not have been allowed entrance dressed as we were, in our casual gear!!!!

My granddaughters all dress very simply, but well.

You can get caught out, though.
I remember a few years ago I went to a talk at Dundee Uni given by Prof Tom Devine on Immigration to Scotland.
It was put on by the Royal Society.
I was the only man without a tie!
Just a leather jacket and cords and an open neck shirt.
Nobody said anything, though! And Prof Tom was excellent!
The snow flurry was a minor affair, I think, but the gritter lorries are going about.

Forfar seem slated always to lose to East Fife, though (4-5)!

I am not so sure that score has ever happened, though!
I have a soft spot for Forfar!

Rusty, I am sure that you ALL will look very well-dressed for Miss Orlando's Graduation!
And will have some great photos by which to remember the occasion!
(I am still upset at losing my favourite trouser suit to possibly a scarecrow though! I always check that the roof box is securely locked now!)
I am glad to report that my dog is doing very well! Her wound seems to have healed nicely; there is still a little inflammation but the anti-inflammatory medication should deal with that.
I removed her "lampshade" yesterday - she was very pleased!
She goes back to the vet next Tuesday for a (final?) check up.
Any plans for the weekend?
