I did not know that your "new" V & A was in town? when you said 'by the waterfront', I envisaged countryside for some reason! ( My Scottish Geography being even worse than that of my knowledge of England!)
Btw, you can find your way easily around London...all you need is an A to Z and a Tube map!

I was most impressed by the show of respect paid by commuters today....as 11 o'clock neared, there was an announcement at Victoria Station asking people to maintain the two minutes silence.........
Everything ground to a halt, about a hundred people standing completely still with their hands down by their sides, and eyes facing straight ahead - apart from just a few individuals ( who were either deaf, disrespectful or couldn't understand English!)
It was good to see!

Elle, yes in town.
The waterfront has been getting upgraded for years.
I saw a figure of one billion pounds mentioned.
The work on V and A has started and they hope to open in 2018.
I did not know there were Tube maps.
I have a local A to Z. They are splendid.
That was excellent about the two minute silence! Our buses stopped, as well.
I was home then.
I am glad it is past. I dislike the poppy bullying that goes on nowadays. Never used to be like this.
Yes, our beacon is lit. There would have been a service there.
The Lord Provost would be there and the Black Watch and Royal Navy. Years ago the Queen Mum was often there.

Well, I had a good day out! My friend and I had a great time , both at the Art exhibition, and in catching up with each other's news - we do talk often on the phone but it's so much better in person!
The exhibition by Frank Auerbach was......er...... illuminating, shall we say?
Actually, despite warnings that I might not like it, I did find it rather interesting and enjoyable.
I found that I had mixed reactions to the artist's work. Some paintings I really liked, others I "appreciated", some I did not like at all, whilst a few I simply didn't understand.
I've brought home a booklet to peruse, and a book of postcards of his work to study further.
I was glad that I went though.
We have already planned our next 'outing'! I suggested the V and A!

It is one year ago today, that I bought my Hudl.

Yes, the Science Museum is certainly well worth a visit if you ever come to London.
I think you would find it interesting.
And it is forever changing in its presentation, so that there is always something new to see and learn.
There are special sections, too, for children - the boys were enthralled when last they visited there.
The National History Museum, just across the road from the Science Museum, is also well worth a visit.
Lots to do and see.
I like London! I wouldn't want to live in Inner London, but being near enough to go up to town as and when I like is good.
I like to go to exhibitions, and occasionally to the theatre there.
But the latter costs "an arm and a leg" (is that in your "Idioms" book?) so we usually go to the local theatre in Bromley.
We get the same shows, either on their way in, or way out, of the West End, but at much cheaper prices!
You know I was talking about having ordered the book "The Life of Pi" (about a tiger)? I have just discovered that the film is being shown on TV next week? To watch or not to watch? Or before or after reading the book?

The last few times we have been in London, we have been on our way to somewhere warm, so our visits have coincided with the photography exhibition at the NHS - wonderful each time (and you can get into it without having to queue for hours at the main entrance!)

Chris, I'm assuming you're talking about the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition?
Something else that ought to be on my "to do" list!
And I didn't realise that you could gain admission without having to queue at the Main Entrance. Well worth knowing, as queueing to go into the National History Museum is one of its main draw backs!
