Good evening, Rusty!
I have been talking to my daughter for just over an hour...she rings on her way home from work.
It is one of the highlights of my day!
Ah, I am confused...so in which Western TV series was Dennis Weaver?
I think he played "Chester"?
Was that Matt Dillon's sidekick?
I have never heard of an "antiphon".....
Yes, I would think that an "Hon" is an "aristocrat".
Your parsing sounds good.
Thank you!
My favourite clues were 8d: hayloft; 12d: trencherman; 16d: contempt. and 25a: Commonplace book (even tho' I'd never heard of it!)

Hello, Elle!
That's great that your daughter phones you every evening!
I recognise the name, Dennis Weaver, but could not place him, so I asked Mr Google.
He played Chester in "Gunsmoke".
I had not heard of an "antiphon", too.
But "tip" was easily got, and the rest was hunting in my dictionary for a word for a "psalm".
I liked "te tram eter" and "no vices".
A good entertaining puzzle, I thought.

I confess that I'm a bit vague on this, but "Hon(ourable)" is a title for a scion of an aristocratic family at some level, whereas "Right Honourable" I think is a title given the a Privy Councillor, generally (always?) an MP.

Collins Dictionary states a Right Hon can also be a title given to an earl, viscount, baron, or Lord Mayor or Lord Provost of certain cities.
I think I should have left the "Right" part out, and left it as "Hon".
Less confusing!

Update, Elle!
I have been digging!
Jessica "Decca" Mitford's book of memoirs is called "Hons and Rebels".
Wonder if she is the Mitford in the clue?
Looks reasonable, though?

Ginge gave this reply in response to my question regarding the "hon"...

Hi brendan, Jessica Mitford's autobiography "Hons and Rebels" would make one of her aristos = an hon

Oh!
I did not see your post, Brendan?
Well, if Ginge thinks that's fine, that'll do for me!
