Hi, Rusty!
I shall have a look out for kippers!
I like to try new foods, and they will be 'new' for me!
Speaking of foods.... as you know, my husband is going to a weekly physio exercise class to help his osteoarthritic knee, and the guy running the class has been recommending that his charges eat plenty of turmeric, which he say can be taken in tablet form.
Apparently, turmeric is very beneficial in helping with joint problems.
So I thought it worth a go, and have ordered some from Holland and Barrett.
It cannot at least do any harm.
Yes, you will be looking forward to the cycling tomorrow.
I don't think there is any Athletics?
Certainly not showing in my TV guide.

Hello, Elle!
I think you should try the kippers.
I heat them in a microwave oven for a minute or slightly more and take boiled spuds with them.
A very simple tasty meal.
I have read that turmeric is good for relieving inflammation but I am not sure that it has been proved in proper trials.
No harm in trying it for several weeks to see will there be improvement.
It may take several weeks to have an effect.
Mind you, Elle, my optician advised me to eat kale to slow down or stop macular degeneration and since I started eating kale smoothies just over a year ago there has been no deterioration my optician says.
That's encouraging.

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely day here!
Here are a couple of clues from today's "O Tempora" Latin crossword puzzle.

And, no, I have no idea what the answers are!
8a, Eagerness, zeal (2nd decl. n.) (7)
14d, Turni sortem__: the unjust lot of Turnus, confer Aen. 12.243 (7)
Good luck!

Good morning, Rusty!
A fine day here....with a nice fresh breeze.
A good walking day.
Yes, that is how I heat the mackerel......just a few minutes in the microwave, and then served with added lemon!
Delicious!
Yes, I shall try some kippers!
There is nothing essential that needs doing today......so I shall make a coffee and then take a look at the crosswords.
What time does your cycle racing start?

Hello, Elle!
Your weather matches mine!
Microwave ovens are great gadgets!
Laddie has the nest looking just right.
He has done a lot of work moving sticks about!
Wonder what Lassie will make of his efforts?
The cycling transmission starts about 1 o'clock, I think.
It should pick up the action well before the two final hills, the Cipressa, and the Poggio.
I am looking forward to it.

Hi, Rusty!
It is spooky how often we keep crossing posts!
Even down to almost the exact second!
Thought transference?
I have done the two O Tempora clues....I enjoyed them!
I am assuming it is all right to use a dictionary?
In one case, the Latin answer had to be adjusted, anyway, to the correct part of speech.
8a: studium
14d: iniquam (from "iniquus" meaning "unfair")
Put it down to Beginner's luck!
Now for the "English" Times puzzle!
Not long to go till your Cyling starts.....
This morning is fast running away from me!

Hello, Elle!
I am off out for a stroll before the cycling starts.
Well done on the Latin puzzle!
Maybe you should ask John to send it?
This one intrigues me!
10a, "Bring me sunshine", Morecambe and Wise (3,4,5)
I found The Times puzzle harder than last week's puzzle.
Several new words to me, and one or two parses that I am not certain of!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear, the Morecombe and Wise clue is much harder!
It is many years since I declined nouns and conjugated verbs....
(We shall not go into quite just how many years.....!)
" Bring me sunshine"...
The Latin for "to bring" is "ferre", which makes the Imperative form "fer"
"Sunshine" is "sol" - of which the Accusative case is "solem"
And "to me" is "mihi" (dative)
So...."Fer mihi solem" is the answer (I think)
Hey, I like this - it's fun!
I'm only half way through today's Times Cryptic.
I may have finished it by the time you come back from your walk!

Hello, Elle!
I have no idea what you are speaking about!
I'm glad you like the Latin puzzle though.
Still a lovely day here with a strong breeze blowing.
It's like summer!
Cycling is over.
Another win for Julian Alaphilippe.
Sagan was 4th, which was good considering his illness.
Have you managed your puzzle?
