Yes, what I shall do is walk down to the village proper and meet
my mates - the little tavern where we usually gather is situated
on a strategic spot, at the bottom of a hill, and right on the corner
of a sharp right hand turn to get into the village center.

They will not cross the heart of the village itself as it is a one-way
system and quite narrow, but rather take the Boulevard de la Republique which gets around it. Then another sharp right hander
to get out on their way to Moulins.

I've just discovered that there is a Sprint-point somewhere in the
village, but I have yet to find out where precisely - It would be
an interesting place to be as a spectator?

Hi, Rusty!
Oops! Time has rather got away from me... a friend popped round late -morning..... and has only just left.
It is a beautiful day here, too, now .
The sun did eventually arrive, duly wearing his hat!
Yes, I finished my puzzle , too.
I always prefer Saturday's puzzle to the weekday ones!
I have all clues completed , bar one somewhat dubious parse....I am working on that!
I must check out the cycling on Tuesday, having just read Pigale's post....
She could wear a red rose clutched between her teeth, and wave The Times newspaper at us!
Did you find time to watch "Millionaire"?

Hello, Pigale!
It is lovely to hear from you
I am glad that you are feeling so much better.
Hopefully, if the cycling is covered on one of my TV channels, we shall both see you when you stand at the end of your lane!
I am suggesting a red rose between your teeth and a waving of The Times?

Hello Elle,

A red rose is a possibility, but no 'Times' newspaper I'm afraid -
Cannot get it in the village except sometimes during Summer for
tourists.

I may not be standing at the bottom of my lane - As I mentioned
on my latest post, I discovered that a sprint is due to take place
somewhere in the village - not sure where yet - but I reckon it
would be a fine spot to watch the riders 'sprinting' away

It is probable that I shall be wearing a navy-blue wind-proof jacket -
and my hair will probably be blowing all over the place!

Hello, Pigale!
Your tavern sounds like a good place to await the race.
The sprint point sounds the place to be, I'd say?
Here is the parcours.

I have just watched the Strade Bianche.
Julian Alaphilippe has just become the first ever Frenchman to win!

Hello, Elle!
Still a great day here.
No sign so far of the threatened snow!
Yes, I watched Millionaire.
I enjoy it, but that's it finished until later in the year.
I have been watching the cycling and the skiing.
Guess who won the women's slalom?
The one and only Mikaela Shiffrin!
She has broken the record of the great Vreni Schneider by winning 15 events this season.
Vreni set the record in 1988/89.
To put into perspective how good Vreni was, she was voted "Swiss Sportswoman of the Century".

Hello Rusty,

Thanks for the link - I had looked at the parcours on another link,
and I reckon that by now you know the name of my village!

Unfortunately, because it is a working day, I am not sure there
will be many on-lookers..... I hope some people will make the effort
to come and watch the race though - I am sure they can delay their lunch by an hour or so! French people's main meal tends to be at lunch time.
I kept the British habit and might just have a nibble - my main
meal is early evening.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that your promised / threatened snow is holding off!
Well done, Mikaela!
She will be over the moon.....and you, too, will be very pleased!
And "Swiss Sportswoman of the Century" is a great triumph!!
I am just going out with the dog.....if a bit later than usual!
It is still a lovely afternoon.....
Back in a bit!

Hello, Pigale!
It does not look as though we have coverage on the TV for the cycling on Tuesday.
So unfortunately, I shall miss seeing you, and your village!
Oh...unless of course I can watch it on the computer?
I shall investigate that later.

Good evening, Rusty!
A lovely afternoon - it was great to be out walking.
Just had dinner - liver and bacon, with mashed potato, and onion gravy!
Now I only to need to solve my last clue...…..
And I can sit and relax and watch "The Voice"!
I am stuck on the parsing for 3d: Raised in family like some wild animal (6)
L?P?N?
I have "lupine" , but cannot finish the parsing?
I have looked at this off and on since early this morning!!
I must be missing something obvious?
Help, please?

Hello, Elle!
I had mince and tatties for my tea!
Yes, I have "lupine", too.
"Raised" is "up", "family" can be "line", (see Anne Bradford).
Put "up" "in" "line", for "lupine".
Enjoy "The Voice"!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you very much.
I just couldn't see that!
I have missed a big chunk of "The Voice"........
I fell asleep!
Fortunately , it is repeated tomorrow......so I shall record that, and watch it in full another time.
Oh dear! I think I need a coffee, or else I won't make it through the remainder of the evening!
