Good afternoon, Elle!
Great day here, too.
Quite cold, but the frost is melting.
I was out for a while in the morning, but home for the day now.
Hannah said she often met the rats and did not know who was more frightened.
Her, or the rats!
Not sure if they got to her food or not.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am just home from a long walk in the beautiful sunshine.....well wrapped up, though, against the icy temperature.
The frost has melted now, and the lake is thawing......
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon!
Now.......good news!
I have won my battle against Paper Cavalier, in that they sent me a Returns label and agreed to refund the price of the book, plus the postage incurred in returning said book.
I now have this in writing!
So I have been to the Post office to send back the book.....
( Would you believe it cost me in excess of £20 , because the volume was so heavy?)
I now have somehow to send the company a scan of the Postal receipt to show much the postage cost, in order to be refunded.
However, there is, as before, no viable email address with which to contact Paper Cavalier....
So I presume I shall need to go through Amazon yet again!
Paper Cavalier now owe us approximately £60!!
And possibly, although a skirmish has now been won, the war is not yet over.....because the Reviews online are saying that folk are not actually getting their money back.....

Hello, Elle!
Great day here, too!
It sounds as if you are much better dealing with Amazon.
I mentioned before they have an "A to Z Guarantee", but I have never used it, nor do I know how it works.
I agree, the Paper Cavalier reviews are awful!
Surprised Amazon let them use their platform for sales.
I would tell Amazon there is no means of contacting the seller and what do you do with the postal receipt?

Hello Rosalind

Sorry for the belated reply - I have been away for a couple of days.

I was there in 1968 and 1969, so I would have met your brother as I knew all the temporary staff. I often used to chat to the Waterbus staff at the terminus as it was on my brushing-up round. I might have played 3-card brag with him in the staff canteen. That was very popular and we only played for pennies. I earned 3/9 per hour so £10.2.6 for a standard 54 hour week. I thought I was rich.

You are right about the polar and brown bears too- just living in pits. The zoo was about pleasure and education then. Now it is commercialism and conservation.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I agree with you that contacting Amazon about my postal receipt seems to be my only option.
And maybe in any case, a better choice then going through Paper Cavalier even if that were possible?
Having Amazon's backing, and support for my claim must surely help ?
I have just been talking to my daughter on her way home from the office...she says it will snow tomorrow!
I hadn't heard that on my weather forecast?

Hello, Elle!
If you have been in touch with Paper Cavalier through the Amazon site, Amazon will have a note of all yours and their correspondence.
I would stick with Amazon, if I were you.
Why not call them and explain what is going on, and the lack of an email address for Paper Cavalier to resolve matters?
Yes, I believe snow is coming!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, I now have the choice of phoning Amazon, as I did before, or this time replying to Amazon's last email about the matter.
I am tending towards phoning them.....as it was a great success before!
And they already know that Paper Cavalier has no viable email address for a reply, as they had to contact them previously on my behalf, when I couldn't provide the asked for photographs.
So...the battle plans are already drawn up...!
Yes, I shall phone them in the morning.....
I will let you the outcome.
I haven't even looked at the crossword today....... I've had no time!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, phoning is best, I think.
I am surprised Amazon allow Paper Cavalier to treat customers thus.
I think their Customer Service number is a Freephone number, too.
I would ask Amazon to sort it out as you feel you are being messed about?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, you are right.
That is good advice, especially as I rather think that Paper Cavalier will balk at the expense of the return postage,,,,, £20-70 is a lot of money......putting the overall refund up to £60.
It is best handled by Amazon, in case Paper Cavalier welshes on the deal, as the reviewers are saying happens.
I have finally caught up on watching my backlog episodes of "Cold Feet", and so can now watch the new episode straight off at 9 pm.
I am surprised you do not know the series...it was a big hit ten years ago, and has been brought up-to-date....the same characters ten years on.
James Nesbitt is in it......I am sure you will know him?

Hello, Elle!
The Amazon Customer Service is open until midnight.
I would get straight on to them and get your problem sorted.
If your husband found Paper Cavalier on the Amazon site, you should get them to sort it, or/and refund you.
I do not watch much television, Elle, but I know James Nesbitt.
He's from Norn Iron!
