Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I've read "Testament of Youth" and its sequel "Testament of Experience".
I enjoyed both.
But I still haven't got around to seeing the film of the former.
Did you watch it ?
I remember our talking about the prospect of watching it, at the time it was showing on the television.
I notice that I mispelled Vera's surname before......it should of course be "Brittain".
( I fast forward though the adverts, too!)
Yes, I hope you like the opera singer.
But I was not as enamoured of the singers on tonight's "The Voice", as I sometimes am.
Of course, it does all boil down to personal taste, though, doesn't it?
I still enjoyed the show, though!

Good day, Elle!
A bit dreich here today.
I'm just home from breakfast out.
I was watching Federer's match earlier.
When I got home it was just a couple of points from finishing.
Roger lost 3 sets to 1 to a young Greek lad, who played very well.
John McEnroe is interviewing him now.
He seems a very nice young man and the Aussie crowd love him!
No sign of Sloane, yet!

Hi, Rusty!
It is glorious here!
Beautiful sunshine and a bright blue sky.
Very cold, but one can wrap up!
I hope you had a good time ...and an appetising breakfast!
Yes, isn't it disappointing about Roger's being out of the tournament ?
(Well, it is for me!)
Well done, though, to Stefanos Tsitsipas!
And he is only aged 20!
It seems to have been an upsetting day all round so far in the Men's tennis.........
I see from Google that Cilic and Dimitrov are somewhat surprisingly out, too.
Rafa Nadal beat Thomas Berdych.
I was looking forwards to my hour of Highlights at 5 o'clock...... now I shall only see disasters!
Fingers crossed for Sloane!

I have just finished reading "A Month in The Country" by J.L.Carr (not the one by Turgenev!) Absolutely brilliant.
Also "Salt Creek" by Lucy Treloar, which complements "The Rabbit-Proof Fence" we were discussing a few weeks ago.

Hello, Ros!
I bought "The Rabbit Proof Fence" after our earlier discussion.
It is sitting in my pile of "Books to Read"!

Maybe it'll get to the top one day?
I am busy sawing wood for my fire

Hello, Elle!
That's Sloane out, too!
The young Greek lad is a very good player and fully deserved his win.
I will look out for him in the next round.
Sloane looked a bit out of sorts, I thought.
I don't know how the Aussies schedule the games, but Sloane and Miss Pavyluchenkova (I think!) played to a practically empty arena, and it was way, way, past midnight when they finished.
Good matches to watch, though!

Hi, Rusty!
I am just home.
We have been out for a walk, as the sun was still shining so brightly.
It is becoming even colder though....
I was surprised to see the lake still frozen at this time of day.
I had expected it to at least begin to thaw with all this sunshine.
Oh dear, I am sorry to see Sloane go out.
I cannot place her opponent...perhaps I should recognise her, if I were to see her ?
I did the Everyman and the ST Cryptic crosswords earlier.
Now I shall have a coffee and read my book.......

Hello, Elle!
It is fairly cold here, too.
Did you watch tennis "highlights"?
Some good matches on.
I am about to have my tea.
