Actually, no, neither Newgate nor Cripplegate is a street, but are two of the historic seven gates of the London Wall around the City of London .

However, there is "Newgate Street", where Newgate prison is situated.
But why give it a name that apparently translates then as "New Street Street"?
Of course there may well be some streets/ roads in London that are simply called "Something Gate"...I just cannot think of any?
Yes, you are right ....my Bradford's also has "gate" under "street", but I was searching under "gate" to explain my having it in the answer......and it isn't there that way round!
