Do you know what Rusty, It was not too hot to have a barbecue ! In fact the barbecue was obviously cooked outside but we had to eat inside - mixture of rain and cold (cool to you) damp weather. Only 18C, and difficult to cope with such change in temperature!

Elle, I actually did put the electric rad on for an hour latge afternoon, before going out - it was just getting too chilly.

Your friend Griepnel had his win on the Champs and I see that Coquart made it 2nd - that something I suppose ! All in all, the Tour was very interesting, with new route such as the Lacets.

Sorry to hear about many crashes for the ladies race; one man fell in the peloton as well, but did not catch his name when I watch the replay of last km.

Highlights again today.

I thought it in very bad taste that the Sky team had special kit with yellow flashes rather than blue - what's the word for it? - hubris?

I did not see that but would tend to agree with you ChrisE ! But there again how much of a choice the riders themselves have ? I wonder if the sponsors don't have a lot so say when it comes to such decisions.

Yes, a step too far for Team Sky.
Fair enough Froome having a yellow bike.
The rest of the team should not wear yellow.
That is for Team Movistar who were the winning team overall.
They beat Team Sky by 57 minutes

Jazzgirl, "pauloh" was very pleased with the help he received, and we should expect him back next week!

Hi, Rusty! or perhaps I should say "Good Morning"!
I've just been rudely awakened by the dog, who obviously decided that I needed prompting to give her a 'bedtime biscuit!
I see it's a quarter past midnight! I fell asleep reading my book ..... !
I hadn't thought anything about Team Sky wearing yellow on their kit; the point Chris raised? Do you think any significance was intended? ( I just thought it was a nice bright touch!)
Right.... dog has been out in the garden, husband is drinking a bedtime drink, and I'm about to go to bed myself.......
Hope it's warmer tomorrow - mind you , I think you've had it colder than us.... I have to admit to our temperature not dropping as low as 10C, as you say your's is.... you must be more stoical! (less '"nesh" as we used to say up north! I wonder if that is in the dictionary.....?)

Good morning, Elle.
Yes, the yellow flashes certainly brightened up Team Sky's kit.
But, I am surprised they were allowed to do it.
They are not entitled to, I don't think.
Froome had a yellow bike, but that is OK.
The winning team wear yellow helmets and yellow number cloths. Team Sky were not the winning team.
Team Movistar were. They beat Sky by 57 minutes.
I don't like Team Sky's ethos, so it's maybe sour grapes from me.
Hope they send a team to the Tour of Spain and get thumped!
Yes, I noticed your temperature in the Southland is about 5°/6°C warmer than here.
I don't notice it colder than it has been.
I overdid the pepper in my beef casserole, though.
Could that be it?

It was not so much the wearing yellow that I objected to (though I agree with rusty that it was probably against the rules); it was the fact that I assume that they had prepared that kit in advance and carried it around with them in the expectation that Froome would be wearing yellow in Paris. Arrogance!

Put like that, it does sound arrogant , Chris- although maybe it's only like folk preparing an acceptance speech in advance in case they win an award? Most likely candidates do that, I think?
I don't know.....

Morning, Rusty!!
It's still chilly here, and rained during the night too. But it's drying up now and we're told the temperature will reach 18C later. I hope so as yesterday was COLD!
I hope you are having another nice day?
I haven't been out for a walk yet, as we have to take the dog to the vet at 9 o'clock for her annual booster vaccination - I was unable to get a later appointment so had to change our routine!
We shall take her out after our return from the vet.
Whatever will you do with yourself without the cycling to watch!! it will be like it was for me when Wimbledon finished! I'd been so riveted (one 't' or two?) to the TV and the tennis that it was odd having a sense of 'free' time again!
Have a good day!
