He has been awful so far.

But what of Quintana? Movistar appears determined to distabilize Sky Team.

At least they should have less heat today.

Quintana made some very tentative attacks yesterday.
I wondered what he was up to.
He has minutes to make up on Froome, and will not gain by attacking in the last few kilometres.
Surely he can't be waiting for Alpe d'Huez?
I have been very impressed by Valverde of Movistar.
He has evolved from a one day classics rider into a grand tour contender as his career has gone on.
Contador finished with torn shorts yesterday, so must have crashed somewhere.
Time he put his nose into the wind, too!

Yes ! I am a happy lady ! (but still mad at Voeckler !)

Great to see such a young face so pleased with his day;
and to have 1st and 2nd place for France is a bonus.

Those 'lacets' are rather fantastic to watch from the top; the road was built (well finished) in 1934, so google tels me. It is much safer to ride up hill rather than down hill on this road ! Can you imagine how technical such a descent would be ?

The scenery today was the most spectacular. Les Lacets de Montvernier and its hairpin bends. Wow! One slip and any of the riders could have dropped perilously over the cliff face. From the helicopter, it looked as though a long shoelace had been dropped from the sky.

How do you translate "lacets"?
A wonderful climb!
Be a tricky descent though!
I think I will put the climb up with my favourite places on tge Tour. Mont Saint Michel, and Alpe d'Huez!

Very apt.
A great bit of civil engineering.
You would be locked up nowadays for attempting to create a road like that!

I've been driven on some scary hairpin bends (some on cliff faces ) in my travels, but none quite as spectacular as the Lacets.
