Hello, Elle!
I used to like renting a cottage in the wilds of Wester Ross.
My boys loved it!
I plan on going to the festival tomorrow.
I'll likely just walk up to it on my own.
I have already seen the athletics on EuroSport.
I may watch a bit of the Tour of Spain, though.

Hi, Rusty!
I hope that EuroSport showed the Diamond Leagues in full?
All we got from the BBC for both the Zurich and Brussels Leagues were the Highlights.......
A poor effort really, as it was all so rushed.
There is often no proper lead up telling you who is competing.......instead they tend to go right into the event..... and the viewer is left to pick up on who is taking part from the commentary as it goes along.
I find that very frustrating and annoying.
Laura Muir did very well in the 1500m , didn't she?
Beating Shelby Houlihan and Sifan Hassan was a wonderful achievement!
How is the Tour of Spain going?

Hello, Elle!
The Diamond League was broadcast "live" on Eurosport.
Not highlights.
Dr Muir ran a super race.
I don't have the Tour of Spain on.
I will wait for the mountains.
I am just listening to the football on the wireless.

Hi, Rusty!
I don't know how old these recordings from the BBC were?
We got both the Zurich and the Brussels DLs Highlights in the same package this afternoon.
When did you watch your live transmissions?
I hadn't realised that you had already seen all the events.
It is a glorious afternoon.
We have been out in the garden - it is very warm again!
Now I must think about organising dinner.....

Hello, Elle,
The broadcasts were on Friday.
There may have been one on Thursday, too.
I did not see all the events.
I pick and choose what interests me.
EuroSport covers all the Diamond League meetings.
And if I miss something I get it on YouTube.
Fine evening here too, but a tad chilly!

Hi, Rusty!
I like to watch all of the Athletics events.
I prefer the track events, but follow the pole vaulting , high jump and other field events as well.
I also like to hear all the information given about the contestants, before the start of the race / competition.
So consequently I feel short-changed by the BBC's pared -down offerings!
You are fortunate in having the "real-deal" from EuroSport.
I thought today's crossword was reasonable?
There are a few clues that I haven't been able to parse fully, but then I haven't spent much time on the puzzle....
I shall give it the once -over, and see if I can solve the remaining bits and pieces.
"Rede" meaning "old advice" was a new word for me!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, a good puzzle today.
I may be lacking a parse or two.
I think, but not certain, that I have finally got a parse for 27a!
I looked at it for ages!
"Rede" was new to me, as was 11a.

Hi, Rusty!
27a is also one of the ones that I cannot parse......
I have "Israelite" from my crossers, but can go no further?
The others that I cannot parse are 12a: round up; and 19d: miaowed
I give up!
If you can help me, I shall be grateful?
We are waiting on our daughter to phone with plans for tomorrow.....
At the moment we do not know whether we are to take out the dog early morning as usual, or meet them all later, as was suggested by her as a possibility.
Then after that, BB will stay the night and spend Monday with us.
I think I will text her...….

Good morning, Elle!
It is dark and dry here!
Hope it stays fair for the festival!
Now, 27a!
This is my stab at the parse!
I think "chosen group" is key here.
In the Bible I am fairly sure the Jews were referred to as the "chosen people", and were descended from the "Israelites".
So an "Israelite" would be a leader of "the chosen people".
I don't know how "senior member" fits in, though. Sorry!
I could well be on the wrong track, but that is as near as I can get!
in 12a, "round up" is gather.
"work" is "run", with "o" for "old" inside, and "DUP" for politicians.
19d, the "revolutionary" is Chairman "Mao", with "I" inside, "maio" and "Wed" for the day, giving "miaowed" which is a noise a "queen" would make.
A queen can be a cat.
So, that's what I have, Elle!
Hope it's a help?

Update, Elle!
27, I think I may have it!
"Chosen group" is the "elite".
"I" for "one", "Sr" for "senior", "a" in clue, and "elite"
"Israelite".
Phew!
