Good morning, Rusty!
It is raining here!
At least you have a fine day for your visit to the cemetery.
That is good.
I am just back from the park, and am now about to go and change out of my dog walking gear, prior to going out.
I have quite a long shopping list, so am going to get some (if not all of it ) done before meeting my friend.
I should be back about teatime.......so will catch up with you then.......
Chick still alone in the nest ......and creating!
No sign of Laddie?

Good afternoon, Elle!
Yes, quite a nice day here, but cooler.
Hope you got all your shopping done.
How was "lunch with the lady"?
The nest is empty last I looked.
I have had a canny day.
Visited the cemetery.
Only two or three doggie walkers there, and me!
Been for a walk, too.
A good puzzle today.
10a is a new meaning for me.
I liked 5d !

Hi, Rusty!
I was just about to message you, and say that I was home, when I read your post!
Yes, I had a good day, thank you.
I did all my shopping quite effortlessly for once, coming home with all that was on my list.
And lunch was good....
We went for a Chinese meal.
I had beef curry with noodles and beansprouts!
Delicious!
I haven't done today's crossword, as I haven't had time....
But I've just taken a quick look.....
I know "galley proof", as I once took (and passed!) a proof-reading course, and came across the terminology then.
Is 5d "Jack of all trades"?
I've no crossers, of course, so I'm not sure.
Is your son coming to visit you this evening?

Hello, Elle!
Your lunch sounds nice!
Well done on getting your shopping done!
"Jack of all trades" is correct. I liked that clue!
As far as I know, my son will be here later.
The chick is back on the nest, shouting for Laddie to bring him a fish!

Hi, Rusty!
I've just checked on the osprey nest......
The chick landed as I was watching.
He didn't bring a fish though!
He seems too reliant still on "dad"?
It isn't auguring well for his journey south......
I shall try and do the rest of the crossword later on - it is already printed out in readiness.
Meanwhile, I shall shortly watch "Eggheads" at 6 o'clock!
Enjoy your time with your son!

Thanks for the tip, elle - I've just had a look. What a handsome bird, much less "worn" than either parent!

Hello, Elle!
I agree about the chick.
Too dependent on Laddie.
I think only about 50% of chicks survive the first year.
His fishing skills will have to improve.
It is a good puzzle.
I think you'll like it!

Hi, Rusty!
You may still be talking to your son?
I am finally doing my crossword!
I don't think I have ever started a puzzle this late in the day before!
Daughter phoned ...all is well at her end.
And our rain has finally stopped!
We have quite a pleasant evening now ......although it is beginning to grow dark(ish).
It will be Autumn before we know it!

Good evening, Elle!
My son has gone home!
We had the golf on in the background.
One player scored 59 in his first round.
That is an incredible score!
Autumn has been in the air here for the past few mornings.
I had a fleece on at the cemetery.
It was a tad on the chilly side!

Hi Rusty
Did you hear the commentator say that more men have walked on the moon than scored 59 in a tournament?
