A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
It is a somewhat overcast and (comparatively) chilly morning!
At least this made for a far more energetic walk!
We are promised 26C later, though, with some sunshine and blue skies!
Today is going to be centred around the tennis and Athletics....with hopefully a second walk thrown in to appease the dog......and keep me fit!
You are going to the Pine Cone today, aren't you?

Good morning, Elle!
Beautiful morning here.
Yes, I am going to Pine Cone with granddaughters.
Think I'll have an ice cream!
I finished the puzzle earlier.
I enjoyed it.
Thought 4d was a great clue.
Had me puzzled for quite a bit!
I liked the setter. He steered clear of old Greek poets!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it is now a beautiful morning here, too!
The sun has got his hat on..... and the sky is turning blue....
I haven't really started yet on any of my crosswords, but I have printed them out and so turned to see what 4d offered......
Boro' making big strides towards success? (4, 3, 6)
I think I have it!
"Half the battle" = making big strides towards success
With reference to the Battle of Boro (din).
So does this count as a double definition?
Right, onwards and upwards........
I shall turn my attention to some more clues!
Have a great time with your granddaughters!

Hi, Rusty!
It was but a typo!
I was careless.....and missed off the last "o"...….
Have fun!

Good afternoon, Elle!
I had Middlesbrough in my head.
Good clue by our setter, he had me astray for a while!
Great day here. Same for you?
Looks good at Birmingham, too.
Lots of empty seats in the stadium, though.
La Bamba and me were at Pine Cone.
Miss O is down in Newcastle.
I am home for the day.
Bit too warm outside!

Hi, Rusty!
It is indeed very hot.....but it is also rather windy here, so that is helping keep the atmosphere a tad fresher.
I see it is very breezy in Birmingham, too....... playing havoc with race times!
The event is not very well supported, is it?
As you say, there are a lot of empty seats.
Perhaps due to the lack of famous names?
( The RB is working well!)
I watched the Women's tennis Final at Eastbourne, earlier.
An excellent match.
Caroline won , but young Aryna Sabalenka is a brilliant player, and definitely someone to watch out for. in the future.
She is only 20!
Now.....I think it time for an ice cream!

Good afternoon, Elle!
No, a poor crowd at Birmingham and the grass is burnt by the sun.
Looks like they don't water it.
I'd have thought the British Championships would be held in a better stadium?
I have watched some athletics, most of the France football match at World Cup, two horse races, and even a bit of the shinty!
Still very warm here!

Hello, Elle!
Here's a nice video by Ollie of Cycling Weekly, about the great climbs in the Pyrenees.
And just for you, the bears and wolves get a mention!

Hi, Rusty!
There was some good talent in the Birmingham event , wasn't there?
Dina Asher-Smith won the women's 100m, setting a British Championship record.
And we have some superb sprinters in Reece Prescod, who won the Men's 100m, beating Zharnel Hughes and CJ Ujah - who came second and third - with ease.
I am looking forward to Day Two tomorrow!
You certainly rang the changes , going from athletics, football, horse racing and shinty!
If I remember rightly, you told me that shinty is a Scottish form of hockey?
Not that I know much about hockey....... I played lacrosse at school.
The wind is dropping here, so I fear another warm and sticky night.
Even with the fan in use, I am finding trouble sleeping.
