Hello, Malone!
Your efforts in the Malone Times are much appreciated!
I really like spam fritters if you have any exciting recipes for them!

Hello, Elle!
A tad chilly here, too.
I managed your clue! "(v)endors E d", I think?
I endorse your words of praise for Malone!
Be a shame to see the disappearance ot the Malone Times puzzles!
Not much spam today, mind you!

Elle and Rusty, thanks for your very kind words on the Malone Times. It was originally aimed at distracting us, all of us, from the spam - usually an irritating flurry, occasionally (as yesterday) a veritable deluge! It won't disappear.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, "endorsed" is of course correct.
The clue just appealed to me!
I thought it a good one.
I had been looking forward to "Ladies Who Lunch" tomorrow, but my friend has had to withdraw.
Unfortunately, she has damaged her hip and had to go to A & E for Xrays..... and is somewhat incapacitated, whilst waiting on results.
I hope it isn't proving too painful for her.
So I have other tactics in mind, instead, involving shops and lampshades ...but haven't broken it to my husband yet!
He isn't very enthusiastic about shopping!

Hello, Malone!
Glad to hear the Malone Times is on stand by!
Can't let the spammers win!

Hello, Elle!
Amazon is full of lampshades! No need to go out!
I feel sorry for your husband getting trailed about shops.
I hope you will buy him lunch when you are out!

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely day after a night's heavy rain.....but very much cooler!
I am liking it though.
The morning walk was taken in a much pleasanter and fresher atmosphere.
My dog seems fine after her tooth extractions and clean yesterday.
Nothing is spoiling her appetite!
I don't think I have "sold" the idea of going shopping for a lampshade......!
Ah well, it gives me a chance to do some housework (ugh!) and of course, take a look at the crosswords......
What are you up to?

Good day, Elle!
It is a lovely day here, but was on the cool side earlier.
Shop on Amazon for a lampshade, much easier!
I have done a few wee jobs today.
Made carrot and lentil soup, too!
I Spring cleaned my tablet and it is much faster now.
So, that's a plus!
Just finished my puzzle.
Seemed to be fairly straightforward.

Hi, Rusty!
Now, regarding my lampshade.... I am looking for an uplighter shade for my bedroom.
But I think I would rather see what I was buying "in the flesh", rather than buying online?
I have done all bar one clue of the crossword and that has me beat....
16D; Slippery slope limiting America's support (8)
?S?O?S?L
And I take great exception to 12a: Very serious man with stylish clothing (7)
The answer is obviously "chronic"
Ron -man
chic- stylish
But "chronic" does NOT mean "very serious"!
"Chronic" means constantly recurring; persistent; lasting a long time
It is "acute" that means " very serious"; urgently pressing; coming to a crisis.
I may write to Mr R!
The carrot and lentil soup sounds very tasty!

Hello, Elle!
I have not a clue what an uplighter is.
But Amazon is much less hassle!
16d I have "espousal", anagram of "slope" and "USA".
I am in agreement with you regarding "chronic".
Why not get in touch with Mr R.
(And give the council a break!)
The soup smells great!

Good evening, Rusty!
We are home again now......... we have been out for a (long) walk with the dog.
It has been a beautiful afternoon, and much pleasanter with the slightly lower temperatures.
We were just back in time to meet the new neighbour on site with his architect!
We have been assured (by both neighbour and architect) that we shall be sent copies of the proposed plans in due course.
It is a prospect, however, that I am viewing with great trepidation!
(I fear my dealings with the Council will not yet be over!
I may let Mr R get way with his inaccuracy today ....... and save my energy for bringing the big guns to bear later, in dealing with the proposed extensions.)
Btw.... an uplighter shade sends light up towards the ceiling..... in that the lampshade sits below the light bulb, rather than above it.
If you can follow that description?
Is your son visiting you this evening?

Hello, Elle!
Fine night here, too!
Did the neighbour enlarge upon the plans?
I think I understand how the uplighter shade works but I can not see the purpose of it?
Surely it is better if the light is directed downwards?
My son was here earlier.
He is getting on fine.
