A very good morning to you, Rusty!
We have another beautiful day here, although it is very frosty and icy cold!
I did not understand how curling was played......it sounds far more interesting from your explanation than I had realised.
Thank you for explaining it t o me.
I shall try to watch a match.
We too are going out, now......
We are off to a Garden Centre in Kent.
We want some more shrubs for the flower beds.......and there is a special offer on till the end of this month!
Catch up with you later..........

Elle, Rusty

Did you see Elise's emotion after the mens relay yesterday? As the cameras zoomed in, she was very happy and relieved, and gave an update on her injury. She seemed to say

"A gold at last! I shall run soon." I embarrassed skating partner. (7,6,3)

She explained afterwards that she has been solving cryptic crosswords between races and had just solved this clue, hence her joy. She said that clues seemed to have control over her life at present and asked that British setters provide a clue that will win her a gold at the next Olympics. We have 4 years to work on it!

Hi, Rusty!
We are finally home again.
We enjoyed a very pleasant day out.
The trip to the garden centre was very successful......but my word, it was cold out in the Kent countryside!
Arctic!
We bought four different shrubs (individually priced at £5-99 each) for a total of £10 in the garden centre sale, so did well.
All we have to do now is face the freezing cold and plant them in the garden!
We had lunch in the restaurant there...so that was a treat.
Have you had a good day?

Hello, Elle!
It has been cold here.
You did well with your bargains.
Well done!
Not had a great day.
One or two problems which hopefully have been resolved.
I missed most of the curling!

Hello, JigJag!
I would never have got the answer to your clue except I had inside knowledge!
"Shaolin Sandor Liu" ?

I'm not at all sure it's a good idea to plant out your new plants while the ground is frosty!

Hi, Rusty!
I'm sorry you've had problems at your end.
I hope it all works out.
It is a shame that you missed most of the curling, presumably as a result .
Sod's Law.....
I am belatedly doing the crossword......I am about half way through.
All going well so far.......but I have probably jinxed myself now by saying that!
Did you have time to do yours today?

Hello Jig Jag!
I am sorry but I wasn't able to solve your clue...
But then I haven't been watching much of the Winter Olympics.
Rusty has got it though!

Hi, Ros!
You will have gathered by now that neither of us are "experienced" gardeners!
The shrubs we have just bought were outside in pots (in the frost) at the garden centre?
Does this still mean that we shouldn't replant them in our garden?

Hello Elle,

I would tend to agree with Ros - even if the pots were outside,
do you know for sure they stayed outside overnight?
Might it not be safer to wait 10 days or so, by which time this
extra cold spell will hopefully have passed - particularly since,
here at least, the Met Office is forecasting even colder temps
for next week, with minus minuses!!!

I understand why you ask that, elle, but a lot of very cold weather is forecast in the next few days and planting out puts "stress" on a plant anyway. I would keep them outside if I was sure they had been there in the Garden Centre, but give them some protection from frost and snow if possible.
Don't forget to dig a bigger hole than the pot and give them some blood and bone meal and planting compost, and a good watering before and after! Yes Miss!

Hi, Rusty!
I have finished the 15 x15...... not bad for a Friday?
I am assuming that 28a is "sage derby"?
I haven't bothered to check the dictionary...is it a cheese?
Don't tell me the cheese is a (sage) green colour?!
I liked 9a : exchequer, 18d: strident, and 24d: aglow
Have you caught up with any of the Olympics?

Ros and Pigale!
Thank you for the advice...my husband is the better gardener!
I like the garden to look attractive, but without putting in much effort!
Pots in shed!
