Hi, Rusty!
Thanks for the update on Mikey.
It is indeed a very sad situation.........and worse somehow hearing about the little dog.......
Although at least master and hound will be together now.
We are feeling very down here, anyway, having only just taken on board the loss of our own friend.
Yes, I thought today's crossword "comparatively" easy.
I liked 11a, 1d and 25 especially.
I was on the wrong lines with the parsing for 15a at first....
I wanted to use "est" from established...but of course it is as follows, I think
divest = strip (def)
Dives - rich man
t - final letter of joint.
No new words for me, either!
How is your sport going?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, a shame for Willy, too!
It was somewhere in Cornwall that Mikey had a caravan.
Dives was the rich man, seeing as I could not fit Midas in!
I was thinking of quibbling with 1d, thinking "PS" should have been "PA" for "secretary", but Chambers assures me that PS is an abbreviation for "private secretary".
So all's well, and thank you, setter!
I have come away from the sport.
I was cheering the Jamaican and Nigerian women in the bobsleigh!
I thought that them participating, is just great, no matter where they finished!

Hello, Elle!
Have a look at this superb shot from Eve!
Steve Cram was impressed!

Hi, Rusty!
I liked "secretary bird", too!
There were some excellent clues today, I thought.
I have just watched your video clip - it was great to see Eve jumping up and down with excitement and joy!
I have to admit though that I do not really understand the Curling event?
I must do some reading up.......I am sure I can find the rules somewhere.....
I shall take a look on my return...
Right now, I am just going out for walk.....whilst the sun is shining!
Back in a bit!

Hello, Elle!
Curling is a great game.
You do not need to read rules.
Just listen to Steve Cram and Jackie Lockhart doing the commentary and it soon becomes clear.
But GB did very well indeed beating Canada.
They are in semis now and are going along nicely!

Hi, Rusty!
Home again!
It was lovely out walking...not too cold...probably about 6C.
It is great now that the afternoons are longer before going dark.
I shall try to watch the highlights of the Olympics, then I might catch up on some know-how!
I wonder what my friend will think about GB beating Canada?
I haven't achieved a great deal to show for today........but hey, what does it matter?
I have talked / written to family and friends....what could be more important?

Hello, Elle!
Great afternoon here, too.
My son has just gone home.
He won't visit tomorrow.
Yes, try the Olympic highlights, I'd say you'd enjoy it!
Yes, great result GB beating Canada.
You may not know this, but nearly all the top teams, including GB, have Canadian coaches.
Curling is a major sport in Canada.
I'd say your day has proved worthwhile.
Family and friends are very important!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, that was good , seeing your son.
Did you know that he was coming today instead of tomorrow?
Or was it a surprise?
Is he going fishing tomorrow then?
I wonder if my daughter has enjoyed her outing.......
Her husband was planning to take her and the children out for an early dinner to celebrate her birthday!
Day 12 Olympic highlights just coming up ........

Hello, Elle!
I hoped my son would come to visit me.
He and his wife are going to Paris tomorrow for the weekend.
Misses O and La Bamba are in charge of me while they are away!
So, that could be a hoot!
It was my daughter-in-law's birthday yesterday and she had a baked potato for tea, and no candles!

There is a post from Mikey's neice on the sticky thread.
