Hello, Elle!
Have half an eye on the golf just now.
But earlier I came across something on Sky Sports that intrigued me.
The Ping Pong Championships?
Looked the same as table tennis to me!
And Laura Muir has broken the Scots 800 metres indoor record, and....she then did a bit of pace making to help Jemma Reekie win the 1500!
What a girl!
I have not done a puzzle today, too.

Hi, Rusty!
You have foxed me! I always thought that Ping Pong was just another name for table tennis?
I have tried Googling it but am getting different answers?
Some sites say the games are identical...whereas others say that said there is a difference in the way the ball bounces.
It said that in Ping Pong the ball is required to bounce on the hitter's side of the table first.
I have no idea what to believe!
Perhaps someone reading this will put us straight!
Well done, Laura........there is no end to the girl's talents.
I have been "texting" my cousin tonight rather than trying to talk on the phone....I cough if I talk!
All is well up at their end.
How is your golf progressing?

Hello, Elle!
I thought Ping Pong and table tennis were the same, too!
I only watched for a minute and it looked the same to me!
Another mystery!
Laura is doing very well, and she will probably be studying tomorrow, or on a placement.
The golf is going well.
I am intrigued by Tiger Woods "comeback".
I thought he was finished, but he is doing away fine this weekend!
Good to see!

Hello Elle and Rusty,

First, hope you are not feeling too rough Elle, and that your
husband has benefited from his rest today. Try and take it
easy for the next few day.

Out of interest, I have just looked up a French site entitled
Table tennis vs Ping Pong, and what the video showed and
explained is that table tennis is everyone's sport, played in one's
garden, camping site, beach, garage etc.....
While ping-pong is more a pro sport, what they also sometimes
call a 'cardio sport'...... which I take it to mean it is good for the
heart?
Elle, what does your medical experience tells you?

Hi, Rusty!
Maybe try Googling Ping Pong versus table tennis, like I did, and see what you yourself make of it?
I am going to have another early night.......
I am really feeling rough......
Talk tomorrow.

Hello, Pigale!
Hope you are well!
I have looked on various sites regarding Ping Pong/Table Tennis and most of them say that it is the same game!
So, I will go with that one.
In the Olympic Games they call it Table Tennis.
I had not seen it called Ping Pong before and just wondered about it!

Hello, Elle!
Have a look at my reply to Pigale.
That covers my investigations!
I think I prefer to call it Table Tennis.
Anyway an early night should help you in the Battle with the bugs!

Hello Rusty!

Come to think of it now, I must admit that we (the French) rarely

'Shall we have a game of 'tennis de table', but rather 'Shall we
have a game of ping-pong'.

So it appears that ping-pong has come to be in everyday French vocabulary, much more so than table tennis - which is, I agree,
seems to be exactly the same thing !

Good morning, Rusty!
We have a lovely sunny day here, although of course I have not been out beyond the garden.
It is nice to look out upon though!
This ping pong v table tennis is rather a rum do!
I have found so many contradictory opinions.
Some say it used to be called "ping- pong" when it was a game played between "ladies and gentlemen", but then when it became more of a "sport," the name was changed to sound more serious.
Another offering is that in ping -pong, the ball needs to bounce first on the hitter's side of the table on a return ...whereas of course in table tennis, the ball must NOT bounce on the hitter's side once hit in return.
Against all this are many opinions saying that the games are identical.
I really do not know what to believe!
I used to play table tennis in league matches at Youth Club - but I never encountered any references to ping pong being "different"!
I might attempt a crossword or two this morning...if I can get my brain in gear!

Hello, Pigale!
Our posts must have crossed last night.
I only saw yours this morning when I logged in.
I'm gradually improving a bit, thank you....but it's a long time since I felt this grim.
My head and tummy hurt with the coughing.
Maybe I'm just a bit nesh!
My husband is still abed - I hope this rest will help him recover.
I hope all is well with you at your end?

Good morning, Elle!
If you are up and doing, you can't be too bad!
Hopefully your husband is on the mend soon, too.
Just imagine having a debate about Ping Pong/Table Tennis!
To me, it is the same....I think!
It is a fine morning here.
I was at the cemetery earlier.
Took the Christmas wreaths from our grave and put flowers on.
Had the place to myself, bar one or two rabbits!
Good luck with your crosswords.
I'll tackle mine later today.
