Hello, Elle!
17d, is "harrumph"
Short, strenuous, is "har(d)", game is "RU" (rugby union),
Speed is "mph", miles per hour.
Harrumph is grunt.
24, is "remap", modern music is "rap", them is " 'em", which I did not care for. "Remap" is "once again plan."
20d, is "septate"
The country is "state" and "E" for Eastern, "p" for power.
Septate means partitioned, seemingly.
Enjoy your walk!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you, yes, it was lovely out.........but getting increasingly colder.........
Brrh!
Have you yourself been out for a walk? or is the ground too slippery?
Have you had any more snow?
I do not know "harrumph" and certainly could not get if from parsing the clue!
I agree with you that " 'em " was unfair, as there was no indication of a word contraction, was there?
I've never heard of "septate"!
You did well to get all these- I think they were very hard!
I hope I do better at answering the "Egghead" questions shortly ........

Hello, Elle!
Freezing out!
No walk today!
I think the answers were quite "gettable", Elle, even the "new" words.
Not been any Cockneyisms for a while?
I am a bit behind things this evening.
Been on the 'phone for ages!

Hi, Rusty!
I daresay it is very much colder up your way than it is here!
We have 1C tonight.........with 2C tomorrow morning!
But no snow forecast thankfully, as yet.
Nor does there seem to be any sign of frost, so far.
Ah, I like long chatty phone calls.........so long as it is good news of course!
Do you ever use Skype?
I cannot remember whether we have mentioned this before?
It is free, and also enables you to see each other during the conversation.
Unfortunately, I find I cannot use it as looking at the screen triggers off a migraine (something to with the camera pixels...and a flickering effect?)
I think it is time for a coffee.......

Hello, Elle!
Just a light covering of snow, so far.
I have never used Skype.
I am a bit old-fashioned!
One of the ASDA girls uses it to keep in touch with her mother in Bulgaria, and another has a mother in Texas.
They find it a Godsend!

Hi, Rusty!
I should have thought that your friends in Norn Iron would have introduced you to Skype - it would be so easy to keep in touch that way, at no cost to any of you?
I did try it for a while, especially whilst elder daughter was working in the US...... and then when she had the baby over there......but it had such an adverse effect on my eyes, I had to stop using it.
Just a personal problem..........it seems to work well for most folk.
Any news of the Aussie Open?
What of their wonder girl, Maria?
Have you watched any tennis today?
I shall see what I can find out on Google...........
