Hi, Rusty!
I am back home again.......and possibly going to hibernate until Spring!
The forecast is for the coldest night of the Winter!
No...seriously, it has been a lovely afternoon - the sun still shone...but everywhere was iced up, by mid afternoon!
It is definitely going to be a very cold night!
Your GP phones up to ask how you are?
That is service indeed!
Younger daughter has just phoned........ my grandsons sounded as though there were six of them, instead of a mere two!
I think their mum will be tired tonight!
Still no "Eggheads"...I am getting withdrawal symptoms!
I've just realised it is Thursday....is your son coming?

Hello, Elle.
Yes, coldest night of the year.
I shall throw another overcoat on my bed!
My GP has told me if I have a problem to 'phone him.
So, I 'phone receptionist and she relays message to doctor and he 'phones me when he gets a minute.
I knew he would 'phone today, but not what time.
It works very well, they say, and I agree.
Yes, I think my son will here soon.
He would text if he could not manage.

Hi Rusty!
I wonder if your son is still with you.......
Yes, that sounds like a good system you have with your GP.
I think we can book telephone appointments with our GP, too.
But I think it has to be pre-planned.
I doubt we could phone in the morning and get an appointment the same day.
But does this means that you were not feeling well? or were worried about something?
I hope your GP was able to reassure you...and that all is, in fact, okay with you?
I keep receiving emails from EuroSport Player.......
They seem to be ignoring the fact that they and I have supposedly parted company.....
I hope I am not going to be billed for a further subscription!
We have a Winter Wonderland outside!
But all is frost ....rather than snow!

Hello, Elle!
It was GP's idea for him to call.
If need be, we can get a same day appointment if we think it necessary.
Doc is just checking up on me as I have an ongoing condition.
He is great at the reassuring!
We get on great, he is a very nice, friendly young man, from the Hebrides.
I think there was tennis on EuroSport today?
Our gritters are out, the ground is frozen.
Hopefully no snow coming!

Hi,R!
That is good to hear that you are ok.
It sounds as though you certainly get a much more ''personal" service from your local surgery than we do here.
I guess our practices are just overloaded by the sheer numbers of patients, and the GPs do their best under difficult conditions.
Our "personal" GP (with whom we are registered) in the practice is very good, and knows us well, but he is close to retirement, works only a few hours now, and sees fewer patients.
One can of course see anyone who happens to be available ....... but it isn't the same as it once was.......
I often feel my dog and cat get better service at the vets!
We have yet to see a gritter.....!
I wonder what do they look like....?

Hello, Elle!
My own GP is a fine lad, but the rest of them are good, too.
Four male and four lady doctors, great nursing team, and very helpful friendly girls in the reception/office.
I am very pleased with my doctors' surgery.
Does Bromley not have gritters?
Maybe the economics of having them do not work out?

Hi, Rusty!
Oops! I wonder what happened last time .... I did not address you as "R"!
It sounds as though you belong to a large practice - eight GPs and a nursing team is quite some establishment.
We only have two to three doctors, plus one practice nurse, all situated in a converted house.
It is a very different ball game!
I think in theory our local Council has gritters.....
I am told that there are "tweets" saying that the gritters will be /have been out, dealing with "main routes" (quote).......
I just do not know of anyone who has ever seen one....!
Today seems to have passed in a haze - I haven't done anything, yet I haven't stopped!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, ours is quite a large practice.
They are quite go-ahead, too.
Frequently young doctors in training there.
Did you find out any more regarding your Parkinson's research?
Another thing I recalled was that the first indication of the disease in Linda Ronstadt was detected in her singing voice.
There may be research going on in that too?
Yes, that's the "rules", grit the main roads first.
Quite sensible, I think.

Hi, Rusty!
I've noticed that the Scottish NHS is more relaxed and less regimented, too, in its hospitals...... maybe it's simply the pressure here that seems to offer up more drawbacks.
We have worked for the NHS for many years, but there are more and more problems now in financing.
Our Regional Hospital Trust is now in financial difficulties.
Government money is perhaps being focused in the wrong direction?
I haven't had time, Rusty, to look any more into Parkinson's disease...I shall do so.
I am especially interested as my father was a sufferer.
I have a list of "things to do"!

Still dark at 7.55 this morning when I set off on my walk. Raining as well. Someone actually stopped and offered me a lift, the first time ever! I declined politely but wouldn't have got into his car unless desperate.
Sainsburys near me has a lot of good bargains in Christmas things if you can bear to buy for next year. Also the local Garden centre where I shall go for my monthly free coffee and some more decorations.
