Good morning, Elle!
Frosty morning again!
Though I have not been out yet.
Was waiting on my Argos delivery.
If you do decide to get a 'phone from eBay, make sure a charger is included.
Some only have 'phone and battery.
I hope you receive this post, as I am sending it via my brand new Chromebook!
Came an hour ago and I am just tuning it in to my preferences, for font size etc, etc.
I only had to enter my password and everything synced in to it from my tablet and 'phone.
It even installed Adblock without me asking!

Hi, Rusty!
You sound as though you have been having a very enjoyable morning, playing with your new Chromebook!
( And sending successful messages !)
I won't even ask how it is possible for everything to transfer so simply from your previous appliances!
I have Adblock on my desktop, of course, but no matter how often I installed it on my Hudl, it always managed to uninstall itself eventually!
I had intended to go down to the High Street to buy some cards, for our Wedding Anniversary, our son's 40th birthday, and the "special" family Christmas cards.
But it has been very wet...and I already had to dry out once after the early dog walk!
I decided shopping could wait till tomorrow......
Have you done the crossword?
Did you see that Miss O's favourite place is the answer to a clue?

Hello, Pigale!
Much warmer here today - you would like it!
I just thought that I would enquire how your search for a tablet is going?
It would be beneficial if you were able to buy one at a "bargain" price during Black Friday/ Cyber Monday.
Any luck?

Hello, Elle!
It has been an interesting morning!
I do not know how it transfers either. Magic ?
But as soon as I logged in to new Chromebook everything had synced in.
I was expecting that, but thought I would have had to install Adblock, but no, it synced across too.
Adblock will still be in your Hudl.
Maybe you'll need to go to Apps/Settings to "enable" or "configure" it?
What browser do you use on Hudl?
Firefox, for instance, has Adblock built in, as an add on.
So do some other browsers.
So no need to download it.
No, I have not looked at the puzzle today.
Maybe later.

Hello Elle and Rusty,

cool at present (6C) - which to my mind is 'cold'!), no sun, but no
rain either - a bit of a nonentity kind of day!

I have already found my bargain Elle, my tablet (approx £53) is
sold by C Discount. it is a Artizlee ATL-21 tablet and I should
receive it within a couple of days now.
It had very good write ups by people who have bought one.
Second hand but very good condition and 'revamped' etc

I just think I might like to have a peep at a (very) cheap Hudl if
there was one going on ebay bidding lark. We'll see - But since
it would be a second tablet (only God knows why I want two tablets!)
I certainly do not want to pay more than 20Euros plus delivery.
I can always sell it again later......!

Rusty, you know something? I reckon there are many 'Professionals'
buying these cheap tablets on bidding, always at the last minute,
and probably sell them either on markets, bazaar or cheap shops etc...
I have absolutely no idea why, but I am almost convinced of it!

Hello, Pigale!
It is cold here, too!
That is good you have found a tablet!
I have two tablets!
There are lots of Hudls on eBay UK, Pigale.
There are two models, Hudl, and Hudl 2,
Hudl 2 was the newest model and would be the one to go for?
You can set the eBay filter to just look for Hudl 2's.
I doubt if you could get one for 20 Euros, though.
They were going for £50 to £85 last night if I remember correctly.
The last second bidding on eBay goes on regularly.
To me, you are best your setting your maximum bid, and letting eBay do the bidding for you.
That's what I do and am happy doing that.
Good luck Hudl hunting!

Hi, Rusty!
Now, you haven't been wandering about muttering "Abracadabra" under your breath, have you?
Maybe that would do it?
Because it is very strange......I took a look at my Hudl.....the browser I use on it is Chrome - and checked on the status of the Adblock Plus ...and hey presto, suddenly all the adverts were gone!
Now I shall not get overexcited...because this does occur quite frequently...... and for a short time I shall be "advert -free"........ but they invariably come back!
I don't know what I actually did ......
But we shall see...
Watch this space, as they say.
I thought today's 15 x 15 crossword was okay - all filled in and parsed correctly, I think.
I've done the QC , too.
Still damp out...a truly miserable day!
I didn't go to the shops...popped out for little while with the dog, but didn't go far.....
Need a coffee......

Hello, Pigale!
That is great news about your tablet!
I hope it reaches you safely and you enjoy it.
I think I may have misinformed you, because I had thought there was a Hudl 3, but apparently I got that wrong!
You seem to like buying and selling online?
I have no confidence in my ability to deal with it.

Hello, Elle!
Well, strange things are going on here!
I am returning my new Chromebook to Argos.
Somehow, since the "synching" took place, my old Toshiba Chromebook is working much better.
I am at a loss to explain how that should be, but that is what happened.
So, I 'phoned Argos and they collect the new Chromebook tomorrow and have refunded my money (though it could take 3 to 5 days to reach my bank).
So...!
My Hudl behaves like that with Adblock sometimes.
I just go to the Adblock icon and open it and that is usually enough to "waken" it up.
No crossword puzzle for me yet.

Hi, Rusty!
Perhaps your "old" Toshiba Chromebook may have been overloaded?
Is that possible?
When you transfer stuff to your new tablet, is the data removed from the old one or simply duplicated?
I wonder would trimming down all the stuff you have on the Chromebook maybe quicken it up?
Can you delete "History"?
Okay, you are probably tutting away by now, and thinking I am talking a load of rubbish....I most probably am!
I do not know enough to offer helpful suggestions, so I shall be quiet!
Anyway, the upshot is that the old Chromebook is working well, and you are getting a refund on the new one!
So all is well!

Hello, Elle!
Do not do yourself down!
You are talking good sense!
I do delete History regularly, though.
There is little stored in Chromebooks.
It is all in the "Cloud".
But when the "synching" had finished, my new Chromebook was identical to the Toshiba.
All the sites I have saved and photos etc were all synced over,
But, somehow the Toshiba has recovered to the way it was months ago.
I'll ask Miss O.
She is our computer expert!

Hello Rusty and Elle!

I won my bidding!

I have successfully bought a Hudl 2 for....... £37.00 plus £4.80 P&P -
which for France is quite good.

I watched the bidding screen solid for the last 10mns, ready to
intervened at the slightest alert, but I had set a reasonable maximum
bidding (and let eBay do the work) - In the end I had £8 to spare -
my max being £45
Only one thing that I realized about half an hour before the end of the
sale is that the Vendor was not wanting to sell abroad. So I contacted him (in English) and he said that Yes, in this instance
he would send it to France! Whether he thought he was selling
to British people living in France or not, I don't know!

Paying by PayPal is really so easy, and required by most vendors -
It is also much easier for reimbursements in case something is
wrong.

I should receive it Friday 1st and Tuesday 5th December, so they say.

Rusty, There is no difference between French and UK eBay - whether I go to one or the other, my bids are there.
You might have seen my Hudl - It was at £31 for a while, and it
has something like a white label on the left satying 'Let's go', or
something like that.

Nail biting stuff....... and I reckon it could be addictive!!!!
