Update, Elle!
Look under "enemy" in your fine Chambers Dictionary!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, yes, I have heard the expression "Time is the enemy."
But I have never, ever, come across the expression "How goes the enemy?" meaning "What time is it?"
Yes, I have found it in Chambers...... but I still think it is weird?
Have you ever heard anyone ask the time in that fashion?
I'd be expecting to look around, and then duck before he/she pulled the pin out of the hand grenade!
( Maybe I need to do another park survey....?)

Hello, Elle!
I am not certain I have heard the expression.
There is a possibility.
But, it took me a while to work it out.
It was not a wonderful clue.

My father-in-law used to say "How's the enemy" (frequently!)

I suppose it's the circles you move in, if it is said or not.
It rings bells with me, though it would not be a phrase I use.

Hi, Rusty!
I'm watching "Location, Location, Location".
I enjoy the repartee between Kirsty and Phil!
One of the couples is looking at properties in Putney and Balham for a ground floor flat..... prices are prohibitive!
I am wondering again why we are living in London.......
We could lead the life of Riley if we moved further out!
The other couple is looking in Staines, interestingly near where some friends of ours live.
But of course, when young, one lives where the jobs are....... where best meets career demands.
And later in life...... one stays there to be near family!

Hello, Elle!
I do not know your programme, or Kirsty and Phil..
But, I have heard of Putney, Balham, and Staines.
No idea where they are as regards London, though.
I am on duty tomorrow, taking Miss La Bamba to work!

Hello, Elle,
Just been watching an interesting programme on YouTube.
It was about the race riots aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in 1972.
I had never heard about this before.
Another gap in my knowledge filled!

Hi, Rusty!
"Location" is one of these property finding programmes - but a more amusing and interesting (and practical) one than most of its kind.
Putney and Balham are in South - West London , in the Borough of Wandsworth.
Staines in now considered to be in Surrey, I believe , although historically it was in Middlesex.
Watch/ listen to Chris' link about Peter Seller's "Balham: Gateway to the South"..........
It's very funny!
(I couldn't access the link, but I have heard it before. Google it if necessary)
I don't know about USS Kitty Hawk?
I always associate Kitty Hawk with the Wright brothers?
I thought Miss L-B had got her car back?
How come you are taking her to work?
Is she having more problems?

Hello, Chris!
I couldn't access your link...but I have heard Peter Sellers before......
This is the one where everything is either unavailable or off!
Very funny!
