Hi, Rusty!
It is always nice to be treated!
Good for your son!
Well, I have come back to cast another (fresh) eye over my puzzle.......
And this time I have done all but one of the outstanding parsings!
So I am pleased with myself.
The one on which I am still stuck is:
9a: Slip article inside French one in market (9,4)
The answer is Petticoat Lane , which is a large street market of over a thousand stalls in Tower Hamlets.
It is very busy and very noisy, selling mainly clothing and some house hold items, if my memory serves me correctly.
It is quite some time since I was last there!
But back to the clue.......
I thought "petticoat" for "slip"?
but could not parse the rest?
I am suspecting it will be obvious and I shall kick myself?
I must leave it for now , anyway....and go out with the dog!
I shall be back shortly........

I suppose slip is Petticoat as you say, "article" is "an" and "le" is the French one, ie a French article. Quite clever really, misdirecting you to "un" or "Une"

Hello Rosalind,

Yes, I agree, the first thing I thought of WAS un/une, before
realizing that was just impossible.

I remember going to Petticoat Lane on a visit to London when a teenager, and wondered if there was an end to it!

Hi Elle and Rusty,

How are you both? It is bright enough but no more than 10C, with
a small 4C in the night! All too early for this I think.

Rusty, I know that you love Amira and I am sure you will remain
faithful to her (I too am a fan of hers), but have you heard
Laura Bretan? She was in America's Got Talent and sang on her
first appearance Nessum Dorma when she was 13 - it was the same
year as Amira's Holland's Got talent, so Laura must be 4 years older
than Amira.
I think she has a deepe, more profound voice than Amira, perhaps
due to maturity, or just because they will always be in a different
category. But she really reminds me of Maria Callas

Tell me what you think?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, nice to be just slightly treated!
It was a special occasion for them.
Now, 9a, I agree with "petticoat" bit.
I thought at first "petticoat tail"!
But I discovered there is a market, as you say, called Petticoat Lane.
The French article is "le", the "article" is "an", inside "le".
That's how I see it, but stand to be corrected, because articles are not a strong point of mine.
If you are kicking yourself, watch out for your wonky toe!

Hello, Pigale!
No, I have not heard Laura Bretan, (but I shall find her!).
Thank you for the tip!
I was very taken by Darci Lynne on America's Got Talent.
She was a ventriloquist, I think she was 12?
She won, too.
I do think Amira has got better though, compared to when I first came across her.
I shall let you know what I think!

I turned on Radio3 this morning and some woman was making a dreadful noise. It turned out to be a review of a compilation of the career of Maria Callas - though one of the presenters said that he couldn't get on with her voice either!

Pigale!
She is wonderful !!!
That was 2016, that was how I did not see her!
I think she will be great doing opera, as she can act, too!
My favourite opera singer is Carmen Monarcha, but it is great seeing these young ones coming on.
I will watch the second clip soon, as soon as I get this big grin off my face!
That is why I love the "Got Talent" shows.
You just never know what will walk on to the stage.
I watched a bit of Australia's Got Talent, last week.
Some great acts!

Hello ChrisE,

I know Maria Callas is not everyone's taste - and I must admit that I did not know Carmen Monarcha, but have now listen to her -
Yes, I do like her!
