Thank you for your good wishes and reassurances. I'll let you know later what happened, the bones may need pinning.

I loved Portugal, Pigale, it was my second time there on a walking holiday. Very hot for walking but lovely scenery and saw some amazing birds, like a flock of (white) flamingos. Nice to have company, too.

I got tripped up and pickpocketed in Naples. Should have worn my money belt, which I have ever since. Even took my return train ticket! Police couldn't care less.

Hello, Elle!
Lots of sympathy for you and your husband on here, anyway!
You didn't "tidy it away" into a drawer when you were doing housework?
There are honest folk out there, much more so than the other kind, I've always found, so your husband may be lucky and get it back.
Let's hope so!
Have you phoned the police about it?
I knew you would twig the "Driving Miss Daisy" remark!
I have not seen the film...yet!

Rosalind, I hope your grandson mends successfully!

Hello, Pigale, All well here and I trust you are the same!

Grandson out of surgery, feeling fine, no pinning required! Grannie needs brandy, quickly.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, folk on here are very kind and responsive.
It engenders a nice feeling!
( I do tend to forget when I am telling you something, that other people will also read it)
Barclaycard tell us we shall replacement cards within three working days.
Meanwhile we do have our Debit cards, so we shall survive in the interim.............
There was a lot of sympathy, too, for Ros - it must have been such a shock for her, arriving home to news of her young grandson's injury.
It surely puts a mere missing wallet into prospective!
How was your son - all okay?

Great news, Ros!
You must be so relieved!
Can you pop over and see your grandson tomorrow?
Put your mind at rest?

Thank you , Piigale and Jazzgirl!
it is nice of you to be concerned.......
But as I've just said to Rusty, Ros' news puts our small problem into prospective.......
It's only money!
Family is far more important!

Yes, thanks all. I was on tenterhooks (I do know where that comes from!! or I think I do) but everything seems fine and they expect to discharge him tomorrow. He was/is very, very hungry but otherwise fine. Lucky that he lives in a place and time where there are doctors and anaethetists to fix him, and he has only had to be hungry for a short time.
Yes I hope to visit tomorrow to sign the plaster! And take some goodies.
Phew!

Hello, Elle!
Have you asked the local police station if your husband's wallet has been "Found"?
Do they have a "Found Department"?
I agree that family is far more important than money.

Hi, Rusty!
I rather think that we have been advised to "email" our local police, these days, rather than phone them...or drop in.....
Ludicrous , isn't it?
But, no, neither of us thought to do that!
I would not hold out much hope that the wallet will have been handed in!
Call me a pessimist...or maybe a realist?

Ros, I'm so glad that your grandson is okay.
You will feel much better, once you have seen him for yourself tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
Would do no harm to call in to your local police station and ask if your husband's wallet was found.
The person on the reception desk will tell you who you see, etc.
I know here we used to have a "Lost and Found" Department, but somewhere along the way, "Lost" was lost, and it is now the "Found Department".

Some people do hand stuff into the police, though I suspect the wallet would be empty.
Once I found a lovely owl brooch in three colours of gold with ruby eyes. I took it to the police station and was told if not claimed in 3 months I could have it. No-one ever did claim it.
