Hi, Rusty!
I do so agree with you in many respects.........
Yes, my favourite sports stars come from different countries, too!
Especially tennis personalities.
As you know, Roger Federer is a great favourite of mine! and I like Rafa and Novak, too.
And in the past, I would support John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker, and Stefan Edberg, to name but a few!
And the same with the women's tennis, although their more complicated surnames are harder to remember!
And where Wimbledon is concerned, I support the individual rather than his/ her nationality.
But in a "country" event - such as the World Championships or the Davis Cup, for instance - then I would automatically "gun" for our own team member to win!
Regardless of whether I liked/ approved of him/ her.
I suppose it is putting the good of the country above my personal likes/ dislikes?
But I do understand how strongly you feel about Lynsey Sharp.....so we shall not argue about her?
Just popping out to buy the Sunday Times!

Hello, Elle!
I have my own standards and they do not include cheering people like Sharp no matter what vest she wears, or who she is representing.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, that is perfectly understandable ......
And as I very much respect your judgement, I am thinking that there must be a lot I do not know about Lynsey Sharp?
I have never particularly liked her manner ....but I am presuming now that there is obviously a lot more that is very detrimental to her character, that I do not know about?
Should I hear/learn anything about her behaviour that was against my principles, then that would be a very different matter and I would obviously not support her under any circumstances.
I think I need to do a bit of "digging" ?

Hello Kenyatta,
I am sorry to say that I misinformed you, when I told you that the recently resurrected Motor Sport at Crystal Palace Park was not taking place this year.
It is, just not on the May Bank holiday as it has been for the past few years.
Instead it will held on Sunday, August 27th, and Monday, the 28th
I hope this link works:

Hello, Elle,
I am not saying anymore about it.
I hope that's fine with you?
I am looking forward to seeing the local Harriers run in the 5000 and hope for the very best from them!
PB'S would be great!
Or even a medal!

Hi, Rusty!
It should be a good evening's viewing!
Apart from the 5000m race, where we have a special interest in Laura and Eilish , there are the Men and Women's 4 x 400m relays, too.
I always like those - although I worry about the baton being dropped!
I haven't seen any of the relay heats..........
Do you think we have a chance for a medal there?

Hello, Elle!
I have not seen the relays but GB usually does well in the 4 x 400, both men and women. Fingers crossed for a medal!
I think the baton is more likely to be dropped in the 4 x 100.
I see the crow raking about in the nest.
Not seen an osprey today.

Hey, Rusty!
Well, what a great 5000m race!
As we thought, the main contenders were of course Helen Obiri and Almaz Ayana
Although I hadn't expected them to break away from the others quite so early?
But didn't Laura do well to come 6th in what was her first major Championship at that distance?
Well done , Laura!
And Well done, Eilish, too!
Now , I must very briefly phone my cousin before it is time for the relays!

Hello, Elle!
The slow first lap done for Eilish's PB!
The race was not as competitive as I had hoped for, apart from the first two.
The nights are drawing in here and we have heavy rain forecast for tomorrow.
Not so good!

Hi, Rusty!
Quite an eventful ending to the Championships?
Our GB and NI women's 4x 400 team did well , gaining a Sliver medal, and then the men to get a Bronze!
Did you see/ hear Steve Cram's tribute to Brendan Foster, thanking him for being with him all these years, and saying how much he would miss him?
It was quite moving!
And then Michael Johnson had put together a tribute to Usain Bolt........with Usain coming onto the track later for a presentation and to say goodbye.
The end of an era....and hopefully the start of something new.........
It has been a beautiful evening here....as you will have seen on the television.
The next few days are set to be fine and warmer .
I do hope so, as our elder daughter is bringing the boys tomorrow, to stay with us for the week.
We are looking forward to seeing them.

Hello, Elle!
No, did not see the tribute to Bren.
I like Steve Cram and Bren.
I'll find it on YouTube tomorrow.
I just discovered that in his business career, Bren was managing director of Nike Europe.
I saw a bit of the tribute to Usain Bolt and for a wee while I thought it was Morgan Freeman speaking, rather than Michael!
Do you know Morgan Freeman?
The end of an era right enough.
The relay teams were first class, too!
I can't remember seeing any competitors from Italy?
They can't all be cyclists and footballers over there, surely?
Yes, you and your husband will enjoy having your family to stay.
My granddaughter, Miss O, starts her career as a teacher tomorrow.
I am very pleased for her.
