I have to admit to not noticing / thinking about any spare seats, but now that you have drawn my attention to it, yes I think you could well be right.... corporate bookings would make sense if any seats are left vacant.
I cannot see private individuals not occupying their seats - the cost is so great and the demand so fierce.

People are queuing outside Wimbledon all night for entry for the next day's play. There has been a public announcement made today that no one else should come to camp outside the premises, because there are already too many there to be admitted tomorrow without having pre-booked.

Yes, I've been to Wimbledon many times when much younger. We used to go after work... in those days if you paid the entrance fee to get in, some kind person leaving early would be certain to hand you their tickets for either the Centre Court or No 1 court and you could watch some first class tennis for 'free'!
I believe now that tickets are handed back in and resold - for charity, I think?

The last time I went was a People's Monday- we queued outside for hours, and then only got to watch the match on Henman's Hill, as all seats for the Centre Court were sold out. A great atmosphere though!

Yes, there are 'Seniors' matches' at Wimbledon - sometimes if viewing time allows, you may find them being shown on television. Look out for them - some good old favourites participate!

Rusty, I have a feeling that last year, Tim , in an interview with Sue Barker (whom he apparently calls 'Auntie Sue off screen) said that he wasn't taking part in the Seniors' matches- but I could well have dreamt that?
All ages play as far a s I know once they no longer compete in Wimbledon 'proper'.
For some it is obviously also a social event but even for the few that few play the fool on court, the tennis is still cleverly executed.
Well worth watching if you can chase up a few matches - they are difficult to find tho'.
