Hi, Rusty!
Now I did not know that about salmon not liking light!
You can have some of our rain......
I have discovered your Oxford Dictionaries "grammar" site......
What a wealth of information!
It is like a treasure trove!
How wonderful!
I have taken a quick look at dangling participles...it seems that I did kind of have that right!
I have "saved " the site reference in my "Favourites", and will enjoy exploring a little more each day!
Thank you for telling me about it.
A link between tightrope walking and ambulances?
Apart from falling off one and the other arriving?!
Sorry, sorry, I couldn't resist that........!
Seriously, though......
Is it something to do with the Latin word "ambulare" - to walk?
Although I haven't yet followed this through?
I had beef bolognese and salad for dinner.....very tasty!

Hello, Elle!
Dull overcast days are best for salmon fishing.
I thought you may like the Oxford site.
There is lots to explore there, especially for someone so interested in grammar as you.
As I said to you earlier, they send me several "tweets" each day, usually of something very interesting.
You could maybe register for their emails?
I presume it would be the same info.
I just had a quick glance at the tightrope walking!
Yes, I think you are spot on.
A tightrope walker is a "funambulist"
"Funis" is rope, "ambulare" is walk, in Latin, I think.
So, I can see the link.
But, as you rightly say, an ambulance would be handy if you fell from the rope!

Good morning, Rusty!
A fine day here.
I followed your advice, and yesterday signed up for the Oxford Dictionary emails.......and this morning I received one!
How about that for a quick response?
I have been given a word for today from the Thesaurus.......
"Mondegreen"..... and it has also been "spoken" for me so that I would know how to pronounce it correctly.
I am on a new learning curve!
We are going over to our daughter's later this morning.... to provide our last day of care for the cat.......and to finish off some jobs that we started.
The family returns home tomorrow!
Do you have any plans for your day?

Good morning, Elle!
We have sunny rain here today.
That's good that you have taken to Oxford Dictionaries site.
There is a wealth of knowledge and info there.
I get several "tweets" each day from them and I would think the emails would be the same?
So, you may come home from feeding the cat and have a few more emails!
I have seen "Mondegreen" before but could not remember the meaning.
That could be called "paramnesia" apparently!
I like Chambers definition and history of "Mondegreen"!
I have been out and about earlier today.
May go for a dander later.

Hi, Rusty!
Home again at last!
We have had a very busy day!
Very productive though, so that is satisfying.
We took ourselves out for lunch in the middle of our labours......there is a Harvester quite near to our daughter's house, so we went there.
Do you have "Harvesters" up your way?
They are farmhouse-style pub / restaurants.
I had a very nice (medium rare) steak ...with peppercorn sauce...chips, vegetables and side salad.
Then back to the jobs!
At least, I do not now have to cook a dinner!
What have you been doing?
Did you get out for a walk? or did rain stop play?

Hello, Elle!
It has been fine weather with me.
I was out earlier on the Nature Trail.
There may be Harvesters around here but I do not know of any.
Cafes are much more my thing.
La Bamba and me going to one tomorrow.
My son was here earlier.
Was good to see him.

Hi, Rusty!
That is good that your son came to visit.
How did his salmon fishing go yesterday?
I have just had a text from my daughter...they expect to reach home about 9 pm tomorrow.
It will have been a long day travelling.
I expect the children will be tired.
We have enjoyed seeing the photos that she has been emailing.....
I haven't had time even to look at the crosswords today!
Anything strange or startling in the clues?

Hello, Elle,
My son had a fine evening on the Esk but said there were few fish about.
Most of the rivers say the same.
It has not been a good year.
You will be glad when you family get home.
It was a good crossword, I think.
Nothing controversial in that I noticed.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it will be good when younger daughter family get back...we have missed them!
We have been in touch by text and email every day, but it is not the same as talking daily on the phone, and meeting up in person once or twice every week!
We haven't heard anything more from elder daughter and her "lot" apart from the initial email saying that they had arrived safely.
But then she is never as good at keeping in touch!
However, she and the boys are coming to stay with us shortly after their return from holiday, so we shall catch up with them then.
This time next Friday, we shall have been watching the start of the Athletics World Championships!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here, nearly!
I am just waiting on Miss La Bamba collecting me.
Yes, the Athletics should be good next week.
I have the Clasica San Sebastian to take in later today.
Are you on "cat duty" today?
