Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear! well, I certainly had that wrong!
I assumed that the brakes "locked" and thus stopped the vehicle from moving!
I shall hang my head in shame !
Yes, a nice response from Ros. I hope I thanked her adequately.
It is great to be able to share good news with friends.......especially in the midst of the present unhappy climate.
The sheer weight of worry that has gone from me is unbelievable!
I shall probably go on repeating this all evening!
I feel euphoric!
I wish it would rain or thunder or something......
The atmosphere is so heavy that when I go out into the garden, i feel as though I have had a thick blanket thrown over me!
(I wonder if a parrot feels like this when its cage is covered?)

Hello Ros!
Yes, thanks again for your kind thoughts!
I'm not sure that sleep will be a possibility. the atmosphere is very oppressive.
We were chatting to the neighbours...it's heartening that everyone feels the same about this heat.
A thunderstorm would be good - but it's a bit too hot to sleep with the dog!

Hello, Elle!
No, locking brakes are dangerous.
You need good efficient brakes that can stop you quickly without locking, and consequently skidding.
Have a wee look at "anti-lock braking" in Wikipedia.
Or your friendly garage man would tell you.
Known in the motoring world as "ABS".
Anti-lock Braking System.
Yes, you will be feeling euphoric after your husband being "discharged".
A great relief, I am sure!
We do need a thunderstorm but I not think it is forecast!

Good morning, Rusty!
How are you today?
There has not been much let up in our heatwave........
It is a tad fresher at the moment , purely because the sun is still hazy....
I think the temperature is supposedly 24C now ...but will rise to 28C later.
Tomorrow is meant to be our hottest day!
But (hopefully) temps will be down to a maximum of 20C on Friday.
How the dog can still run about, I'll never know!
I shall try to watch some tennis this afternoon........
I certainly have no plans to go outdoors again, whilst it is so hot and humid!
I am in for the day!

Good morning, Elle!
Have you came down to earth yet?
It was cooler here earlier but the sun has broken through now.
I am going for a stroll (my default walking pace is pretty quick!).
I'll have a look at the racing from Ascot later.
But I think I shall stay home once my walk is over.

Elle, I would have liked to be able to tell you last night how delighted I
am about your husband's great news! How relieved you must both
be after five years of permanent worry. I can understand you being
euphoric - you are entitled to feel elated!

Very high temps here - 35 + - and warm nights. Not good

Pain still very much there but they did say it would take a long time
It is over two weeks ago now that I fell! I wonder how much longer I have to wait for some relief!

Hi, Rusty!
No, I am still swinging from the chandelier!
Are you home again?
How was your walk?
I have tried the garden - but definitely too hot out there by now.......the park is fresher...maybe because there are a lot more trees (hence more shade) and it is far more "open".
I am sitting on the sofa between two fans!
Tennis starts in just over an hour!

Hello, Pigale!
I was just going to message you!
I am sorry that you are still experiencing a lot of pain.
It will no doubt feel worse , too, in the extreme heat where you live ..... 35 + !
It is bad enough here.
Yes, thank you for your good wishes....we shall go out to celebrate .....but when it is cooler!!

Hello, Pigale!
I hope your pain will improve soon.
Have you tried a painkiller?
It is very hot in France, I see!
The chicks are getting very big now!
Laddie is a good provider.
A pity your Google Chrome is on the blink?
Why not try another browser?
I am using Opera Mini just now.
It is good and very fast and has a built in ad-blocker.
Better than Chrome, I think.

It is slightly cooler here this day.
I feel sorry for the lads in top hat and tails at Ascot.
One of the lady bookies is very elegant in her posh frock and hat!

Hi, Rusty!
I just ventured out into the garden with the dog....I was soon back indoors again!
I'll swear it is much hotter even then yesterday!
The tennis......
Milos Raonic has crashed out!
Followed just now by Stan Wawrinka going out to Feliciano Lopez!
Andy is on next......
I read that Andy will donate any winnings from Queen's to families of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy.
What a lovely gesture!
How is your horse racing going?
Did you place any bets?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, it is hot!
Very good of Andy to make a donation.
I have an interest in one horse today.
Thomas Hobson (he of the "choice") in the 5.00.
A rare runner for Willie Mullins at Royal Ascot, so I'll take the hint, rightly or wrongly!
