Good afternoon, Rusty!
I hadn't remembered about Peter Snell! A middle distance runner?
I might need to check that......
But "Give me 'ope, Jo'anna" is an anti-apartheid anthem?
Eddy Grant, Nelson Mandela and Johannesburg are all jumbled up in my head!
Jo is a good player....let us hope she has recovered from her upset by "Mr Nasty"!
I have nearly finished the 15 x15....my efforts have been spread throughout the day...I've done a bit here and there as it has occurred to me!
I particularly liked 27a and 11d!
I didn't like the homophone in 25a........ "a knee's" sounding like "anese"? Yes , I suppose it does, but a bit weird?
And 10a? I thought "manana" is Spanish for "tomorrow"?
Yes, I'll grant that tomorrow is "later", but a bit of a "loose" definition?
I am now stuck on the south-west corner!
13d and 24a and 26a - all interlocking clues.......no ideas at present.....
Right, I am away out with the dog!
It is trying to rain....but who cares!

Hello, Elle,
I think BT Sport were supporting "Johanna" Konta!
Sharapova is up in the first set.
Quite close though!
13, Could a bright fellow be a bright s???k ?
That should get you going!
It is not so easy today, I did not think.
Fine breezy day here!
Sharapova up 5-4 in the first set.

Hi, Rusty!
We are back - somewhat dampened by the rain!
Yes, I am sure that BT Sport were indeed supporting Jo Konta (which is I why I went on to talk about her, after mentioning the quote!)
But if they used the song title, then I am fairly sure it was a play on words.......or some such!
How is Maria doing?
"Spark"? Ah yes!
I have looked again at the puzzle and have done all three remaining clues now!
It took a while for me to get "knocks out" as meaning "really impresses" though!
I was struggling to account for the "ko".
Thank you for your help!
Your son will be visiting you this evening?

Hello, Elle!
Well done on the crossword puzzle!
I finished mine earlier.
Miss Sharapova won.
Andy Murray was up on Feliciano in Barcelona, too.
But I switched to the Punchestown Races and not sure how the tennis is going.
Yes, I think my son will be here soon.
It is a fine evening here.

Hi, Rusty!
You are fortunate with your fine evening - it is raining steadily here!
Andy Murray went on to beat Feliciano Lopez and is now through to the Quarter Final.
And speaking of sport........
I have received an email from EuroSport giving me an update on the forthcoming sporting events to be shown on EuroSport Player.
There is the ATP Esporil from May 1st - 7th; the IAAF Diamond League across the Summer from May 1st - September 1st; and the French Open from 22nd May - 11th June.
A lot of coverage!
I am doing well!
Is your son still with you?
Did he bring you any "goodies " from the butchers?
His offerings always sound very appetising!

Good evening, Elle!
No goodies this night, just his good self!
This Stuttgart tournament is odd!
Not only is it like a disco, the umpire has to leave the chair each time there is a disputed call, to point to where the ball landed!
They have no Hawkeye there!
So, are you pleased with the Eurosport output across the summer?
Seems quite good?
They are showing Wimbledon and the US Open, and several smaller tournaments, too.
Vroum Vroum Mag runs at Punchestown tomorrow.
My favourite mare!
And first day of Tour de Yorkshire.

Hey, Rusty!
The Stuttgart tournament does sound a trifle archaic in its approach!
I have memories of an irate John McEnroe asking the umpire "You cannot be serious?"
Actually, did you know that Mac has written a book so entitled?
I've always intended to read it....but somehow never have........ he wrote it in 2002.
Yes, if all goes as promised, the outline for tennis and athletics on the EP sounds good for the Summer, doesn't it?
I am looking forward to some decent (from my point of view) forthcoming sport!
No guesses then for what you will be watching tomorrow if Vroum Vroum Mag is racing!
Are you having a (small) bet on her?
Oh and of course , the cycling!!
There will be some wonderful scenery en route through Yorkshire.

Good morning, Elle!
The Stuttgart tournament is a hoot!
It is like watching tennis in a disco.
When they change ends all is in darkness with smaller red and purple lights on!
It is sponsored by Porsche and i wonder if the disco theme is their idea?
I am not sure if I will have a bet today.
But, I will be cheering for Mag!
She races at 17.30 today.
Yes, I shall "try" the Tour de Yorkshire, but the Tour de Romandie is on at the same time and the best riders are there.
Be nice scenery at Romandie, too.
They had snow earlier in the week, and frozen riders!
Off out for my paper and catch up with the gossip at ASDA!

Just back from a few days in Cornwall. Absolutely beautiful, sun shone but very cold and my accommodation owner wouldn't switch on the heating. grrrrr! Kynance Cove sparkling in the sunshine is unforgetable as are the crab sandwiches in the discrete cafe.
Now making grandson's 7th birthday cake

Good morning, Rusty!
A dull and drizzly morning.....a tad warmer though.
I am very late logging in to the Forum today!
We have only just come back from the vets!
Our originally later appointment was brought forward, as the vet has to carry out an operation at 11am., so we had to go there straight after the morning walk.
We were there for the dog's routine anal gland check - fortunately, she is fine - all is ok for another two months!
It is a pity that there are two important cycle races clashing with each other.......maybe you can "skip" from one to the other?
Or does that detract from the thrill of pursuit?
The scenery in Romandie should be beautiful to watch.......
What is your weather like today?
Is it still very cold?

Hello, Ros.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your holiday.
But it was a bit much to be without heating in your holiday accommodation! Especially as we hit such a cold spell!
Could you not deduct a percentage from your bill under such circumstances?
I would have done!
