Elle, there was a man on the reception desk and he could not have been more helpful! A gent!
By good fortune, the consultant was on today, and the man found my notes and went and spoke to the consultant. I had it entered wrongly in my diary. And had lost the appointment letter.
I have an old letter rack I got in a charity shop (has a secret compartment) and the letter should have been there.
It is not the Old Grey Goose on court?

Rusty,
That was very kind of everyone - restores your faith in human nature and makes you feel good about the world!
I can't see Aunt Rhody among the spectators...........
so no, I don't think so?
(think the commentator said it was a blue tit?)

hi Rosalind
It is sad that your experiences have caused your fear, but I fully understand why this has affected you. From the age of two, I had incidents which really scared me, including bumble bees, cows, snakes, our own dog who tried to bite me (she was in her whelping box and was only trying to protect herself from a mischievous little girl !) and a Russian Cossack stunt rider! But with the help of my Dad and my husband, I am not scared of much at all now. Certain breeds of dog have a reputation, and it is, sadly, mostly due to the lack of training or care by the owners. Before I attempt to pat a dog I don't know, I will always offer my hand (face down) so they can sniff it. They then know I mean no harm.

I feel sorry for Aunt Rhody.
I was looking for the Old Grey Goose in Brewers, to no avail, but...I discovered that a tailor's pressing iron is called a goose, due to it's shape, and...here's the kicker...the plural of the iron is not geese, but gooses!

Wow a Russian Cossack stunt rider!
Thanks jazzgirl. Never patted a dog since childhood, and didn't allow my sons to. either. (I've read "When Leaves Were Green"). However, the eldest has a rescue dog he adores and the younger has a cat so I didn't do any damage!

Rusty, you won't be happy to hear that both Novak and Serena won their matches!
Going out with the dog now.......will look for the old grey goose among the gooses in the park!
Tell Aunt Rhody!

Elle, I read on News that from 2022, the Olympics will not be on BBC.
Eurosport have won the bidding process, I believe.

I have not heard of that book, so I will have to find out more. I am happy that your family have two loving pets.
(My mother was scared of almost everything )
The cossack riders were in a field opposite our house in Wiltshire. They were in some kind of show and I was just looking through a hole in the fence of the field to watch. I was 5 years old. Suddenly, one horse went wild and started careering towards the fence and me! I had nightmares for some time after.

Elle, my info is not 100%!
Eurosport have won the rights to televise the Olympics.
If BBC want to show them, they will have to do a deal with Discovery, the parent company of Eurosport.
