Yes, we are very fortunate in having a number of very large parks, plus several commons, nearby.
Most of them do require a short drive initially, though, to gain access.
It is good that you and your son get a good chance to chat regularly.
Does he share your views on the corruptness of British cycling officials and competitors?
That puts me in mind about your saying you were looking for a more cheering book to read.....have you fixed on anything that interests you?
I am reading a detective thriller / murder investigation story by Mark Billingham at the moment.
Relatively lightweight books, but a good read none-the-less, I find.
Mark Billingham is an author , actor and comedian.
Did I ever mention that I saw him on "Eggheads" a while back?
I think the fewer folk on the forum might be down to the coming of Easter?

I have large parks close at hand too.
My son and me were reading about Team Sky in Cycling Weekly, when he was here.
The Times will carry the story tomorrow.
My son is a keen angler and he likes golf, he is not really interested in cycling.
My other son is, though, and is a member of a cycling club.
He has little time for Team Sky.
He likes their bikes, though!
Yes, it is Easter this weekend.

It is a sunny but coolish day so far.........
I went out for my early morning walk, even though it is a Bank Holiday, and the start of the Easter weekend.
Not many people about.......
Now I know a little of Para Handy ...but cannot remember from where? or from whom?
It may be that you have mentioned the character and the books.......or possibly my cousin in days gone by.
It is the sort of theme he would have enjoyed.
Am I right in thinking that there was a film or TV series based on Neil Munro's books?
We have no plans for today!
It is to be a day of leisure....apart from another walk later.

I do not think it is a Bank Holiday up here?
I have just spoken to my bank, RBS, on the telephone, so their customer service department is open, anyway, whatever about the branches.
It is a bit cloudy here.
I could have mentioned Para, before.
He is a "hero" of mine!
Duncan McRae played him in a film and Roddy McMillan played him in the television series.
Para's proper name is Peter McFarlane.
I am going to watch the track cycling on BBC, soon, after that I have no plans yet.
Best have a quick look at the paper to see what is going on in the world!

It is not a Bank Holiday today here either; it used to be regarded
as a day of sorrow, with Easter Monday being a great day of feast.
But now, I think a lot of people do take a day off today, or at least
the afternoon, in order to travel to wherever and enjoy the full long week-end.

I have just been treating my Box hedge - it is attacked by Box Blight,
a disease which has all but destroyed many hedges etc the world over. (origin of the disease Asia apparently) - I'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few days, then cut down top and sides, and perhaps spray again.

Had to be careful not to spray on the ground on either sides because of cats!

I am sorry to be replying so behindtimes......
I have had a lazy morning, reading my book!
Time has passed extremely quickly.........and I didn't realise!
I don't know about your bank, the RBS in particular, Rusty, but according to my wall calendar , today is a "holiday" throughout the UK?
I am wondering if there is any difference between the terms "bank" and "public" holiday?
(but if there is, I do not know how to distinguish one from t'other?)
Maybe individual institutions can lay their own ground rules?
Each to their own, so to speak?
Certainly all the shops seems to be open today.
And tomorrow will be "business as usual" everywhere!
Around us, though, the supermarkets - such as Tesco and Sainsburys - do always close on Easter Sunday.
How is your track cycling going?

According to our calendars and diaries, it says that Good Friday is a holiday in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Now I have just consulted Google who tells me that Good Friday is a public/bank holiday in Scotland but it is only considered to be one in SOME parts of France!
I have no idea as to the authenticity of these claims!!

I did not know about Good Friday being considered a holiday in parts of France - They might as well though, because so many people take
time off work!

It is somewhat cloudy here but not mild - which is exactly the weather I needed for treating.

I went to the dentist yesterday and he took 4 teeth out!!!
I feel absolutely fine, except that I am rather anxious to get the
replacement teeth in situ! I don't smile very well at present!

Aw Pigale, that's horrible. Bottom 4 front teeth? My dentist says I will lose mine eventually as genetically they have very shallow roots.

Must get on with the decorating!

Yes, bottom front teeth; I never had good healthy teeth, neither
did my mother; two of them did not feel secure and becoming
a problem when eating. So I am better with them out of the way,
before abcess and pain set in!
