Hi, Rusty!
Fell dreich here.
Kirkintilloch didn't keep its rain to itself!
We got somewhat damp on our perambulation!
Yes, I have a good picture of the nest now.
It is blowing in the wind...... which is howling.
Plenty of moss....no Laddie....nor yet Lassie.
Are we talking "Old Grey Goose" and Aunt Rhody?
I think the old gander refused to eat?
I see that Theresa May is to trigger Article 50 on Wednesday, May 29th.
The Scottish relatives are stressed.......I am unsure how they hope to reconcile remaining in the UK (remember they live in East Dunbartonshire) with staying in the EU.......?

Hello, Elle!
Kirkintilloch and its rain are just nuisances!
We have had some too.
"the old gander's weeping,
the old gander's weeping,
the old gander's weeping,
because his wife is dead".
Laddie was there a few minutes ago, moving sticks about.
Why are your Scots relatives stressed?
I do not follow that.
They won't be in the EU, but it will take some time before that happens.
Are you sure it is May 29th?
I thought it was sooner than that.
My son tells me we have snow coming!

Hi, Rusty!
Now.........
I have been doing some research.
There are apparently quite a number of slightly varying versions of "The Old Grey Goose".......
It is also entitled "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" and "Go Tell Aunt Nancy"!
The old gander suffers from different problems according to the version.........in one he is weeping and in another, he will not eat!
"The gander won't eat now, gander won't eat now,
Gander won't eat now because his wife is dead"
( Poor old gander.....well, at least he isn't crying into his food!)
It was, of course, a typing error....it should have read MARCH 29th for the triggering of Article 50!
I didn't understand why you were querying what I had said....... and had to look back to see what I had written!!
Sorry about that! Very careless of me!
My Scots relatives voted - as did the majority of East Dunbartonshire - to remain in the UK.
But I think some of them also want to stay in the EU........
So a conflict of interests?
Yes, your son is right about the snow coming, according to the radio....!

Hello, Elle!
I did not know the gander was off his food, too!
So it's March 29. Right.
Ah, I understand your relatives uncertainty, now.
It is a quandary for them.
Hopefully this forecast snow does not come to much.
I was jacketless today!
First day of Spring!

Hi, Rusty!
It must have been a lot warmer for you up in Dundee, than it was here!
There is no way I would have gone out without a coat today!
There were, however, a few occasions last week when it warm enough to go without a jacket.
I really did think that Summer was coming!
But it now sounds as though we may be in for another cold spell?
Was today really the first day of Spring?
Strangely, I have gone for years believing that March 21st was the first day of Spring!
Oops.. I hadn't noticed the time...
I must away to watch "Broadchurch..."

Hello, Elle!
My Collins diary has today as the first day of Spring, and Vernal Equinox.
I know what Spring means!
I am a quick walker, Elle, so I warm up in no time when I am out.
I think the temperature here is set to drop for a few days.
I do not know Broadchurch?
I am listening to the wireless and reading my book.
Peace!

Hey, Rusty!
Uhm, well, it seems that, once upon a time, Spring in the UK DID come on March 21st!
I just tried Googling it - and I hadn't dreamt it, or made a mistake.......
Just somewhere long the line , the date changed...and I never realised!
It appears too complicated to explain/repeat it to you on here...but take a look on Google for yourself!
Type in "Was March 21st ever the first day of Spring in the UK?" and you will see what I mean!
It's good to know I'm not going doolally!
Yes, "Broadchurch" is a good programme"!
( I have told you about it before!)
What book are you reading?

Hello, Elle!
I am re-reading "A Walk in the Woods".
Have you read "Walden" by Henry Thoreau?
I was told it was a good read.
May have a look on Amazon for it.
I'll take your word for Spring!
Easter moves about too.
The Moon is involved somehow, but it is a bit complicated for me to understand.
I like your "doolally" word!
Comes from Deolali in india.
I am pleased you like Broadchurch.
The new TV seems to be going well!

@Rusty It's not too difficult.

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or after the March Equinox (ie today).
The next full moon is on April 11th and Easter Sunday is April 16th.

Hi, Rusty!
"A Walk in the Woods" is by Bill Bryson, isn't it?
Weren't you going to replace your old copy for newer one - or am I thinking of a different book?
I keep promising myself a new set of Shakespeare's plays - my copy is literally falling to pieces!
No, I haven't read "Walden"...what is it about?
I have obviously heard of Henry Thoreau - apart from being a poet, philosopher, historian , what- have- you , I think he was also a transcendentalist?
But I have never read anything of his?
I didn't know the origin of "doolally".
Thank you for that titbit!
