Good morning, Rusty!
Another lovely day, but cold early morning.
Definitely Autumnal!
No, "Hawaii" is the book that is coming from the States.
"Chesapeake " is from Worthing in West Sussex.
But I have solved the mystery......
Amazon have changed their system a little........they now give the 'range' when confirming your order, and then give a specific date when telling you that they have dispatched your book(s).
Much handier to know the exact date of delivery just in case the parcel won't fit through the letter box!
I am away shortly to have my hair cut............

A very big thank you to everyone for your good wishes yesterday and for your appreciation of the hard work that the whole team has put into keeping the Crossord Forum running. In return we would like to show our appreciation to everyone who uses the Forum and helps to make it the success it has become.

This PCT thread has worked brilliantly in keeping the chat to one dedicated thread and long may it continue.

I am sorry I did not reply yesterday, I had a post already to send and was just about to 'Add Post' when the damn thing said 'not responding', the whole page with my post disappeared into the big black hole in the sky and I lost the it. I was too tired to start again.

Thank you all once again.

Good day, Elle!
Fine weather with me, but a mite chilly.
I must confess I pay little heed to arrival dates etc.
Though I do with a book from America.
Most dealers I use are pretty good at posting quickly.
Amazon (and the dealers under their umbrella) are pretty much on the money with their deliveries etc.
Good luck with your hair cut!
Have you tackled crossword yet?
I have not looked so far.
I am hoping to catch the memorial service for Arnold Palmer on the Golf Channel later.

Hello, again, Elle,
Why on Earth is Chesapeake not arriving until 18th October?
That is two weeks from despatch from Worthing?
Seems a helluva time to take!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Hair cut successful, although I only had an inch cut off!
I don't know why "Chesapeake" will take so long? - but it should still arrive before "Hawaii" does.
One of my books - "A Fool's Alphabet" by Sebastian Faulks - was on the doormat when I came in.........that had come from Guernsey.
The parcel was absolutely covered with stamps!!
And interestingly - puzzlingly and, maybe , worryingly? - it was addressed to me by my full name?
Now however did they know that?
Neither my credit card nor my email address bears my second name?
Shades of "Big Brother"???
No, not attempted the crossword yet!

Hello, Elle,
Your full name?
I remember in Curry's shop, they asked for my post code, and found my name in their computer.
I suspect we are all listed in a "post code directory"?
If it was me, I would not worry about it.
I got a large missive in today's post offering unlimited wealth if I invested £250,000 with them.
It looks extremely dodgy but I wondered how they knew my details.
I do not think it would be hard to find out.
But, I do not have a spare £250,000 on me, at the moment.
This clue irks me!
8d, "Dull colour is something motorists want to go, some say?" (5)
K???I.
This motorist would certainly not say it so!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, you are probably right...and no doubt 'they' could tell me my eye colour and my height as well!
I fully agree with you about 8d!
"Car key " does not sound anything like "khaki"!
So far I am only half way through the Times 15x15 - although I am finding it somewhat easier than yesterday's puzzle.
What do you think? Is it less difficult?
I rather like 9 across?
And 3d made me think of you, and Lucie Safarova's Wimbledon dress!
But I am stuck on 20A:
A little land's needing two gates bolted (8)
A?D?R?A?

@Elle

this should help with the answer to20

Digital systems are said to be constructed by using logic gates. These gates are the AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, EXOR and EXNOR gates. The basic operations are described below with the aid of truth tables. The OR gate is an electronic circuit that gives a high output (1) if one or more of its inputs are high.

PS if you want just Rusty to answer your queries, I apologize. not everyone looks at this PCT, so asking on the main forum would get a quicker answer maybe
