Itsme, even with the author the quote is hard to find. If you get 28dn some of the other unclued lights will become apparent.

Hi itsme, if you have the part quotation, the 1a section cryptically explains the unrelated unclueds.

Morning ginge.
My ODQ is the 7th ed. No quote by WW on 'future' is mentioned. Any ideas? I have 28d as piastre which doesn't help me. For 20a I have tailles but the word play only calls for one 'l'. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi farr, tailless is correct; ill in (seat reversed).
Re the quote; that explains why the earlier poster mentioned 36 possibles rather than 37 (as in the 6th edition) this particular quote must have been dropped.
I'll think of an alternative way for you to get there, hopefully shortly.

Your 'piastre' is correct - look at the other unclued answers (a big hint - the ones with 7 letters!) and you will see something in common/relevant. The first part of 1 Across is the significant part. I no longer have the magazine, but I'm sure 'Tailles' was what I had.

Hi farr below (hopefully) is a link to more of his quotes of which the relevant one is included. They are listed alphabetically so go down the list to "T" as it starts "the f........".
I've went this way to save spoiling for others not wishing to look.

Thank you ginge. I wonder why the setter used a quote from an earlier version of ODQ!
